I use this mostly for playing MP3s rather than hi-res. It does have some firmware issues with FF and index funtionality. Support is very responsive however and promises to fix these issues in an upcoming FW release. Despite this, highly recommended.

I have to give this five stars for the delight it provides me every day. I do data-entry and I need music to zone out into auto pilot. The FiiO X3 is an amazing player for the price. I've heard things I've never heard before on tracks I've listened to my whole life. It's the best thing to happen to me this year. I use Klipsch image x10's with this and the sound is just heaven. Everything sounds good. But it's kinda weird to listen to lo-fi stuff like Weezer with this set-up so I use Sennehiser PX 100 II's for that. I use this everywhere - in the car, at home hooked up to an amplifier, and of course at my job. But the battery life can't really keep up with my demands so I have to plug it in while I use it (which is easy enough because it has a smart usb charger that uses a micro usb connection so my phone charger does double duty). The interface took me a couple of days to get used to but it's really well thought out. I had this hooked up to some speakers and without changing the volume, I hooked up my cans to this and nearly ruptured my ear drums! Fortunately, that led me to discover the default volume reset option for every time the player is turned on: it gets turned down to 20 (you can set it to what you wish) now and I can save my hearing. Though it could be better in a couple of tiny ways, I can't expect better for the price. An amazing eargasmic music player.

Great for all music. Worth all the money with the electronics and packaging. But you better get a more neutral headphone (no noise cancellation). I use it to play tracks in FLAC format (at level 5) from a 64GB micro-SD card. The output quality is superb (iPod outputs has no comparison). With my Audio-Technica 50M Headphone, I set the X3 at high GAIN and flat for the equalizers. The UI is kind of raw if you compare to that of an iPod. The user can only register music tracks individually into the Favorite list. There is no way to create or copy play-lists from your computer S/W (e.g. FooBar 2000). If you are looking for a better UI, you may have to wait for the release the X5 model.

Having gotten into HD (96kHz/24bit) music of late it was nice to see such a compact, inexpensive player on the market so I took a chance and purchased the Fiio X3. This is one great player and at a fraction the cost of an Apple product! Plays all the HD audio formats, is small enough to fit in my shirt pocket and has become the replacement for my MP3 players (all 3 of them). I recommend this player for anyone who longs to hear real high quality audio at home or on the go!
