Questions & Answers

Dale M : who does processing/mounting of slides for this film?PATRICK V : We have been very pleased wit Holland Photo in Austin, Texas. They are simply a Pro Lab, period. They take mail order work from all over the country, and you receive your slides mounted like normal. If they don't arive as fast as you expected, you can call them toll free, and they will trace your order in house.ROBERT B : this is who I used the last few years I did photography theslideprinterLOUIS D : Dwayne’s Photo Slide Film Processing P.O. Box 274, Parsons, KS 67357JOSHUA G : Any lab that can process E6. There aren't too many local labs left that do it, so you may have to mail it in. Dwayne's photo is an excellent service with reasonable prices. I can't post a link here, so just google it.PHILIP D : North Coast Photographic Services / Auto Imagery Inc. 5451 Avenida Encinas Suite D, Carlsbad, CA 92008 Suggest checking websiteTIMOTHY N : I live near OR area to a Walmart that sends out slide film to be processed. I live in the Portland OR area where we have a couple of labs that still process slide film.KEITH S : Dale, anyone who can do E-6 or CR-56 processing can do them. That's pretty much any professional lab. Much easier to get done than Kodachrome was! I use Dwayne's Photo, out of Parsons, KS (they've done a good job for me). If you want them mounted in Fuji branded mounts, you must use Fuji mailers - otherwise you will get generic mounts.Brian W : Google North Coast Photographic Services in Carlsbad, CA. I get great, professional slide processing by mail from these folks.WILL M : Buy and use the Fuji mailers...they are well worth it.MAHNAZ K : In the US you can mail it to Dwayne' Photo. They are very reputable. I get mine done in Toronto, Canada at Toronto Image Works. They get it back to me in 3 hours. I have never processed myself but I've heard from many people that you can buy the kit and it is very easy. Mounting can be done if you send it in or it is easily done yourself if you buy the mounts separately. Ask such questions on forums such as photo dot net or rangefinderforum dot com ... these are two websites with a large amount of information. Good luck.PETER E : Several places in NYC.WILMA E. F : One can purchase Fuji mailers, which are relatively inexpensive, and send them to the preaddressed lab in Parsons, Kansas. The lab is excellent and does work quickly. One can talk with them on the phone to ask questions. If one requires special processing, such as "push/pull" for incorrect exposure, although the lab can do that work, one cannot use the mailers for that purpose. One has to send the film directly to the lab (not using the mailer) with the total fee that they charge.
Shopper : The film box that I received says color reversal film, is that the same as color slides? I am hoping I didn't buy color negative film by mistakeTOM B : I too noticed that it says reversal film, which seems confusing. It definitely is slide film. I have been using it since the disappearance of Kodachrome and have been satisfied wit\h the results. I wish I had changed sooner as I think it gives better results than Kodachrome did in its last years.MARK L : Provia is slide film.OLEV T : Yes, this is slide film.ZORAN R : Yes, it is a slide film.TSUNG-YI C : If it says Fujichrome Provia, it's a color slide.RICHARD L : I have the same markings on the Provia 100 film boxes I have. It is definitely slide film.BRIAN S : Yes; Fuji Provia 100F is slide film. By contrast, color print films may described as 'negative film.' Brian SolomonWALTER B : Yes, the Fuji slide film has color reversal film on the box. Not a problem as it only produces slides UNLESS you ask the processor to make prints from it.PAUL W : Yes, it is color slide film.
KENNETH R : Do you have battery 2CR5?MICAH S : <a href="http://www.adorama.com/BYD2CR5.html" target="_blank">http://www.adorama.com/BYD2CR5.html</a>

The best slide film. Fuji needs to produce a lot more.

The best slide film I have ever used except for maybe Kodachrome 25. Even Kodachrome 25 couldn't match Provia 100F's ability to capture action because of it's low ISO. Fine grain and excellent colors. I experimented with 21 rolls of Kodak e100 and regretted it. Provia 100F has much better colors and exposure latitude. I'll quit shooting film before I buy e100 again.

I have had good results with it for decades. I wish they would get their supply chain fixed up as delivery time is very long.

Beautiful film for sunny days

Vibrant colors and very contrasty, a beautiful film. Like all slide film, it needs to be exposed properly and doesn’t tolerate over- or underexposure very well, but when it is exposed just right, it looks great.

Great Film

I've been buying camera equipment and film from Adorama for many years and have always appreciated their fine service. If, occasionally have to return some goods, they never argue about my reasons. GREAT FIRM!

best film still made

In the age of digital, there is still a demand for film. Collectors of physical images will still use film until none is manufactured. Sine Kodak ended Kodachrome, this is the go-to film for such collectors.

Best of a dying breed

The best slide film still available in 35mm format, as far as I am concerned. I was a diehard Kodachrome nut, but am actually happier with the colors this film produces. Not as blue/green shifted as Velvia. Only bad things are it keeps getting more expensive, and one of these days Fuji is going to stop making it!

Best Film Around

I'm young photographer in my 20s and needless to say that since the first day I started shooting it was with a digital camera. I'm still shooting with a digital camera but now I'm also shooting slides my main subject is airplanes and the Fuji Provia 100F serves the purpose like no other. I've tried different film types still available on the market and this is the ones that comes closest to the best colors. In my opinion the Fuji Provia 100F is the best film on the market now.

Awesome film--great scans too

Use for 35mm and 120, often with 81A filter. Not too much contrast or grain.

Better than Kodachrome

I use Provia to photograph trains. When I heard Kodachrome was no longer going to be available I was at first disapointed, but after using Fuji Provia I have been pleased with the results and now wish I had made the change sooner. I think that Provia actually gives better color than Kodachrome.

Vivid colors and nice tones!

I used this positive transparency film with my View-master stereo camera while on vacation this summer. Using my luna pro light meter, I was able to get near perfect exposures with recreated natural vivid colors and nice tonal qualities. I would recommend this film for any outdoor nature photos.

Fine grained, fast enough -- with Kodachrome no longer with us, this is a thoroughly viable alternative.

Comparison to Kodak Ektachrome E100G

We photographed exactly the same landscapes with both Fujichrome Provia 100F and Kodak Ektachrome E100G, on the same day and timeframe, and used the same development lab at the same time for both films. Kodak E100G results are clearly better that Fujichrome. Colors are true with Kodak. Fujichrome is both too lightly colored, and has clearly washed-out sky color. Grain is a little better on Provia 100F compare to E100G. But, that is not the detail that is dominant in these photos. Both films are good enough in grain size. I just have to tell you the live view of the scenery we photographed was reproduced better by Kodak Ektachrome E100G, based upon three people who were there and reviewed the results of both developed films.

My go-to for wide angle

Provia 100 is what I love to use for those underwater shots off a wall with sunlit water behind the fan or sponge. If my strobe is in the correct position the shot will be great. They are sharp enough to enlarge without graininess. I use it in my housed Nikon N8 with a Nikon 28-80mm zoom.

Would buy again

Since the demise of Kodachrome, I have found this film to be a reasonable substitute considering its decent sharpness and color rendition.

About Fujifilm Provia RDPIII 100F 35mm Slide Film, 36 Exposure

FEATURED REVIEWS

I've been using Fuji Provia 100.

By Rick Q.

I've been using Provia for 7 years now. As long as I can get this film I will not switch to Digital. The color saturation and fine grain caters well to the subjects I photograph. It also scans very well on My Nikon Coolscan V ED.

Great Color Slide Film

By ERoustom

Years ago I used Kodachrome and was quite happy with it, so when I got back into shooting slides I tried the very inexpensive Sensia, which did ok, but I wasn't struck by anything special. I never liked unnatural saturation, so I wasn't interested in the famed Velvia, but I'm quite pleased that I chose Provia for my recent time in Canada's Maratimes. Lovely color, and sharp detail, as I remember seeing it. Exposed in bright sun, and fog - all came out well.
