Questions & Answers

laura r : i recently purchased a mji ii camera- what would the best film be?PERRY T : It depends on you subject and desired outcome. Gritty black and white street photography with black and white film or color landscapes or portraits. And dependent on the amount of light you will shoot in and the time of day.ANDREW R : "Best" film would be dependent on your subject matter, lighting, location, etc.
Shopper : when does this film expire?WILMA E. F : The expiration date is on the box.DONALD K : All color film is dated by month and year, usually 6 to 9 months in advance of your purchase date. Film freshness can be prolonged if frozen, or delayed, if kept refrigerated. Be careful to allow the film to come to room temp before breaking the outer seal and loading into your camera. This will prevent moisture from building up on the film surface.ANDREW R : Film is shipped long before expiration date. Expiration date varies by batch and is unknown to us until package is pulled from the warehouse for shipping.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?DOUG B : Quality Film.BRYAN G : Best slide film available.THOMAS H P : Great slide filmAlexander L : Fujichrome Provia is the best camera film in production, no other film can match the wonderful colors of Proviatim T : decent price and great quality.RUBEN I : for landscape photographyHYEWON S : The best film for my photo...HYEWON S : It is too fantastic to make reliable photos.THOMAS D : Only film I shoot.JOHN G : To shoot 3D photos with my Kodak Realist cameraGLEN M : This emulsion has given me the most success - especially long exposures at nightJACK M : Closest to the late lamented Kodachrome.NICK C : Great color for sunny conditions, a great replacement ever since Kodak dropped the Kodachrome film.DOUGLAS M : Best film made today. I would use it exclusively if it came in different speeds.JAMES C : Great film. Sadly, not other choices anymore.JONATHAN D : Good film is hard to find these days. This is some of the best film still availableALICE K : I like to shoot slide pictures, and Provia has the best color retention without being over-saturated.Ron B : Fujifilm is the best, bar none. Extremely superior when it comes to archival properties.SCOTT B : I would prefer ASA 400 or 200 slide film, but this seems to be my best choice now.BRAD C : Film Rules! With Provia, Velvia, and Portra, I nailed a huge percentage of winners on a trip to Mongolia. Digital guys were envious.MICHAEL F : Beautiful, rich colors which are vivid but natural and the slides are just plain fun to view. This film scans well but looking at slides on a light box beats staring at images on a computer monitor any day. Using this film and seeing the results makes photography a lot more fun than it would be otherwise.GUSTAVO G : fuji makes amazing slide film for shooting landscapes. great colors.

Please Fuji keep making Provia - it's gold!

Among the last of the great slide films available in 4x5 format. Incredible saturation and contrast. Decent latitude (for slide film) I feel like as well. Very very fine grain. Fuji if you are reading this, please keep making slide film!

Amazing image quality

There is no substitute for large format color slide film. The colors are much more crisp than something like Portra. If you have good light, it's not hard to shoot. Even the greatest medium format digital camera can't do what this film can in 4x5. In terms of image quality, it's actually cheaper for me to shoot on used film cameras than buy an expensive medium format digital camera that can't do the movements needed for architecture and such.

Provia is great

Provia 100F is an amazing film, less contrasty and without the crazy color saturation of Velvia, and a little more "neutral" looking to me than Ektachrome. Its great reciprocity characteristics mean it's perfect for long exposure shots at night. And luckily it's not too expensive in 120 format, compared to 35mm. I wish it were still available in 400 iso.

Still the best?

Best prices worldwide on this product which is sadly sold by fewer and fewer shops.

Delivered on time!

At this point feels like Moment is the only reliable film seller. Always can get what I need by the time of the actual shoot. Provia itself is at its own usual excellency.

Great Film. Outstanding color.

Great film for 4 by 5. Probably the best film emulsion left. It's like Kodachrome was, but it's an E-6 film. Miss the days when it came with more sheets in the box.

Superb film with amazing reciprocity!

Beautiful film with amazing reciprocity that doesn?t start until 2 min. long exposures! Enhances the blue color during the blue hour for landscapes. A great alternative to Velvia 50.

Provia 5 pack

My favorite E6 film. Truest to natural colors. I use it outdoors with natural light and have never had a problem with it. The 5 pack is great, I don't worry about running out

THEE BEST!

It's by far my favorite film stock out. I've used Velvia, E100, Astia, E100VS to name a few and every time I use Provia 100, I get the colors I'm looking for. Almost spot on when it comes to landscape photography. Super fine grain and very versatile. If you want a slide film that gives great color and room to wiggle with exposure then this is it. Give it a try!

Great results

I'm new to medium format but not new to film photography. I shot a roll of Provia 100F in my newly aquired Mamiya RZ67 to see if it worked, more than for anything else. This camera has no light meter. I shot landscapes in various light, guessing on exposure or using a free "meter" app on my phone. In the past, slide film was known for having a narrow exposure latitude, but all 10 of my frames were more than usable after standard developing. A couple were pretty dark, but after scanning, there was plenty of room to adjust for a perfect print. And the colors! Wow! This film produces a beautiful MF transparency.

Short expiration date.

I ordered two 5-packs of Provia on 09/22/2018. When they arrived I noticed both packs expired in 01/2019. I wish Adorama would have been more upfront regarding the expiration date.

Fuji's Provia always provides the best, most natural color

Fuji's Provia always provides the best, most natural color, with some forgiving latitude, but not much. You really need to nail the exposure, for the best results. I make Medium Format 3D images by exposing with a very old Russian made Sputnik Camera with two taking lenses, for making Stereo Slide Pairs, for viewing with special made viewers, rendering the most immersive viewing experience possible in all Photography.

Great slide film

Great color, not as saturated or as contrasty as Velvia - probably more natural. Forgiving reciprocity failure characteristics. Recommended.

Provia 100F

Seeing that Fuji has pretty much made this the de facto transparency film left here in the US, at least they left one of the sharpest and fairly forgiving films as the last transparency film standing. While not as saturated as Velvia 50, Provia performs wonderfully in fairly contrasty situations and with careful post processing can come close to Velvia 50. All in all, a good film.
