Questions & Answers

Shopper : Is this plastic or metal?Peg M : flexible plasticGARY G : MetalDennis B : PlasticTimothy M : Plastic. They seem pretty flimsy, but they do the job.PAUL D : It is plastic, won't scratch the filter rim.DON S : PlasticCATHERINE I : It's plastic it will work for along timeand it willnot scratch the filter of the lend.DAVID D : It's a strong stiff plastic. Metal would scratch the filter I would think.RYAN O : Plastic. A metal one would likely not grip the metal edge of the stuck filter well.PAT S : Plastic but it seems durable. I have been carrying it around in my camera bag for over a year with plenty of activity - no issues.MATTHEW U : It's plastic, and if you aren't careful they can be fragile. They work great for the filter sizes they list though.STEVEN S : The wrench is made of plastic and can be broken if you put a lot of pressure on the handles in trying to squeeze it for a tight fit. I broke one in this fashion and have finally learned that this is not the way to get a filter off anyway. The secret is to place the wrench in position and then put your fingers on top of the wrench in equally spaced positions around the filter. Squeezing the handles does not give even pressure but the method I have suggested does and uneven pressure on the filter will normally cause it to bind in my experience.FRED M : This is made of plasticSTEPHEN H : mine is plastic. Used it a couple of times, works well.LORETA R : plasticROBERT W : Seems to be a tough plastic, works great!KENNETH H : Plastic, with the inside edge serrated to help it grip the filter. Two wrenches should be used — one on the filter, and one on the lens body just behind the filter, to help keep the lens body from twisting while you are loosening the filter.WILLIAM S : plastic, I think. I don't use it,at all.PHIL L : This is made of plastic. I haven't had to use it yet, but it is quite flexible and should get a good grip on a stuck filter.DAN C : It's plastic and doesn't work very well on a 62mm filter.LAUREN B : It's plastic... But works well. I think it's fine unless you really cross-threaded your filter or something. But it has been helpful to me.MICHAEL C : plasticRON T : Plastic. Worked effectively to separate 2 stacked filters that were stuck.D. MICHAEL B : Plastic.IOANNIS B : Plastic. Works better than expected. I recommend.

Simple and effective

Large diameter filters with very fine threads can get stuck very easily. This wrench will unstick those filters without damaging the filter or lens.

filter wrench

When first received product it appeared quiet flimsy but on use of wrench it showed why. Filters are very thin and if wrench was not also it would be totally useless. You should not tighten filters with a wrench and you wouldn't need a wrench in first place but sometimes you can't get a grip on them and wrench works beautifully.

good value for the price

The wrench is easy to use with thin filters such as a circular polarizer. The only issue would be that it is made of plastic and may not take rough treatment. But the portability of the wrench is a plus for me.

saved me 2 weeks without my lens

Lens got hit...broke the glass and dented the filter ring. It was wedged on the lens tight. I called service department and they said its a 5 minute procedure and would cost $15. Did it myself, saved time without my lens.

Stuck Filter?

This tool is great for filters such as circular polarizers that manage to get "stuck" on my lens for no apparent reason. My hands are too large to get a good grip on just the ribbed edge and this just makes life easier. Not a "necessary" tool, but has come in handy for me.

Perfect

By Buckeye P.

I must have. I didn't have one and my Cir Polarizer got stuck on my lens...not a fun time. They are a little flimbsy but they kinda have to be because they need to be slim to work.
