Questions & Answers

BRANDON J : Do I really need 2? Is it a big benefit? Also, does the price reflect quality?Timothy M : Yes. You need two if you're trying to get a filter off of a lens adapter.WALTER M : Yes, one to hold uv protector filter and the second for optional filter like stars, nd, or colered filter.CHRIS C : For the price, it would be a crime to not get more than one. If one breaks, you have a backup. I rarely use them, but when I did have to use it, it saved frustration and *more importantly* - time. It kind of shows you are serious in front of the customer. Temperature and humidity changes - not just from indoors to out, but direct sun and shade typically cause the stubbornness of filter threads along with typical causes - being on the lens too long or over cranked when installed. I got a few sets for my filter ranges for under $10 and they have been used enough to pay for them. The concept is frustrating because it is all about even pressure and force when getting a stubborn filter off and I ust wish I could carry around a home remedy in it's place.CLARK W : If two filters are stuck together then two work better than just one. If a filter is stuck to the lens then one is sufficient. They work when gripping a stuck filter, but rubber jar cap removers can accomplish the same thing. These take up very little space in the camera bag and can be handy if you store filters by screwing them together.JOHN T : Using two is best especially for separating stuck filters. I've had mine for several years and they are still good.JOHN A : They come in pairs for a reason. If using more than one filter you hold one steady and in place while you twist the other one off.DOV A : These wrenches work fine. It does not hurt to have a spare one.JOHN A : Based on my experience, I need both when I attach my ND filter and CPL together. You can't just use your hand and the screw in part of the CPL is small so I need 1 clamped to ND and 1 to CPL. I hope that gives you perspective.HONGZHI L : Two filter wrenches can work for two size's filter. They can do decent job.MICHAEL H : You can stack both of these wrenches to get a wider grip. I had to remove a cracked filter once. It was a thin filter so it wouldn't have done any good to stack the wrenches, but I remember thinking it would have been much easier if the wrench was wider. The only other scenario I can think of is if you had multiple filters connected to each other. You can use the wrenches to hold different filters and twist them in opposite directions.HAL M : Most of us keep a clear filter on the glass at all times because it is cheaper to replace than legacy glass. Add a polarizor to that and the odds of the filters sticking together are very great so, yes, you do need two. I have had these for years, they just work.
Shopper : can I use this for 82mm filters? thanksKEVIN K : Yes you can. Just be careful, these wrenches are a bit flimsy and break easily. Just secure it in an area of your camera bag where it's not going to get bent in half and you'll be fine.ALAN K : No idea. Buy ones for 82mm?ENZO F : Yes you canANDREW R : Unfortunately no, 82mm will be too large for a proper fit.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?ALEXANDER Y : ExperimentingPHILIP T : To assist in removing filters just incase they are tightDAVID B : I trust the Adorama brand.JOSEPH P : price, availabilityROCHA M : Great price, should do the job of much more expensive options !CHARLES B : Had difficulty removing a circular polarizing filter, and found out about the wrenches from another hobby photographer.LINDA D : I have students that always seem to put filters on just a bit too tight. I'm hoping these will help.ROBERT H : Sometimes filters, especially polarizers, are difficult to remove.ROBERT S : the wrench is a life saver when a filter is stickRICHARD B : Price and NeedJAMES B : Low priceSTEPHEN V A : fits my lensesRICHARD D : easy to grip filtersRavindar B : release some filters but 77-82mm would be preferableROBERT S : While I typically leave my UV filters on permanently, sometimes it's tough to take off an ND or polarizing filter or separate two different stacked filters, so hoping that this little chunk of plastic does the trick to make it easier and less likely to smear my greasy paws on the glass when trying to remove a filter.KENT M : Could be usefulJOHN C : need to get a filter unstuckRoger S : Safety, in case a filter won't unscrew.GERALD A : Good priceLAWRENCE I : Tight 77mm FilterEthan G : I need itC F : spares to other filter wrenchJOHN C : Good to have if they work as described.Raymond F : what you hadKENNETH D : to ease removal of filters.PAUL H : I am building a solar filter for the August 2017 eclipse.DON C : If you use filters, get a set of wrenches, they will save you.SAMUEL W : easiest way to safely and correctly remove lense filtersGREG B : Does not work at all. Made of plastic so it will not grip the filter. Hard to hold and grip. Hurts your hand to hold.DOV A : Just in case I will need it.JOHN A : As we all know, two filters on a lens will always lock and never come apart. five bucks is a small price to leave the frustration behindMATT P : Did you ever try to remove a filter from a 78 mm lens? That is why I bought these and they are great. A good piece of gear!MICHEAL D : Becuase I needed one

Un-Stuck

Can't imagine ANYthing else that would have done the job short of putting the lens in a vice and using two pair of giant channel locks on the filters. In my case I had a UV (protection) filter on the lens with a circular polarizer on the UV. Like life, sometimes its just hard to get a grip on things - but these seemingly fragile flexible wrenches did the trick. Any real life any photo would look just like what you've got here. For all the expense we photographers go to, why wouldn't we spent $2 bucks to save hundreds?!

broke one the third time I used it

I stashed these in a flat pocket of my case - but the third time I pulled them out of the pocket one of them fell apart (No, I wasn't being hasty or rough with it or torqueing it). Worked ok twice though;-)

Did the job.

I was able to get a cross-threaded filter off my lens that I couldn't budge any other way. I will keep one of these in my bag from now on. (And I'll be more careful when changing filters!)

Does the job

I don't carry them all the time, but when I get home I know I can get a stuck filter off. Good for those times you accidentally over tighten and your fingers are too big to get a good grip.

Worked on 77mm filter

I used it once and it performed. The material seems a bit soft, and I wonder how it will do on a tougher test.

Filter wrench

While this wrench does help remove a stuck filter it is easily broken. Be careful.

A bit awkward, but

when the filter on your lens gets won't budge, you'll feel like a genius for having spent a couple bucks on a couple sizes of these.

I think they will work but are they durable?

I do not use filter wrenches very often but when you need them there is nothing else that will work. Thus this purchase. I wish I'd been able to hold them prior to purchasing (or had the descriptions tell me more about their construction). If I had, I might have gone with a more robust pair even at several times the price.

Did the job

I needed these to get two filters screwed together apart. One was a polarizing filter so the gripping area for it was quite small. It took a bit of work to get the wrench on that filter on the right spot but once done, it worked fine. Because they are thin the wrenches do have a tendency to bend and twist so you have to be careful when using them to hold them steady.

It helps

With some work I was able to get my polarizer and neutral density filter unscrewed from each other. They had been stuck for several months and I was unable to use them separately - so I was very thankful to find this product. The wrench is just a little weak - in fact I think I cracked one of them while attempting to unscrew the filters. I am a little concerned about the grip scraping the filters sides while unscrewing filters-they don't grab like rubber would. However, they serve the purpose and I just know to be a little careful when using them.
