This unit is very solid and a great buy for the money. It's lacking some 'nice to have' features that would really put it over the top. I think the ability to record video to an expandable memory, a magnetic charging cable, and exchangeable battery are 3 features that hold it back from being the best in its class.

Solid unit. Could use more contrast in warm and cold and the FOV is a bit tight. I am spotting thermal signatures for anywhere from 600-1000 feet, depending on the size of the object/animal emitting heat).There are better units out there, but they will all be in the $3,000+ range. If you can pay between $1,000 & $1,400 then you've got solid value. This will be sufficient for most hunters who do not need thermal optics.

I will start by saying I?m not extremely familiar with thermal imaging devices, however I have seen images produced from other devices and this seems to have very good image quality for the price range we are looking at. You want super high res, go spend $60k on a military grade solution. As for the improvements, others have mentioned it does lag when moving back and forth, but it should be fine when considering the fact that this isn?t used for tactical situations. For the price I would have liked to see a 60Hz refresh rate or possibly higher, and it would be nice to have a removable battery, but overall it does it?s job.
