Questions & Answers

John W : If I were to use this in a pinhole camera what would be an appropriate ISO to start off with?John M : For paper, this is a fairly fast emulsion. This is a negative paper (Harmon does make a Positive image paper, but I am not sure if it is available in this size, Adorama defaulted me to 20x24..), but can be used for a "paper negative" and contact printed to achieve a positive image. For use in a pinhole camera, at 20x24 size, I would likely expose for 45 seconds to a minute, even potentially longer due to matters of reciprocity and light intensity being closer to Inverse square (twice the distance means 1/4 the light intensity for a given area.). Until finding the exposure time "sweetspot". For 4x5, I would probably expose for 7 to 10 seconds as a starting point. I would also use a more dilute developer (1:14 versus 1:9) just in case the exposure was too long. When darkroom printing, I tend to expose so development is close to completion, which is about 2 to 3 minutes typically, you can go longer if it seems you underexposed the paper. If image formation with high density appears within 30 seconds and a lot of turbulence marks on the paper, it was over exposed, though the more dilute developer will hopefully mitigate that potential. Tray development preferred over tank development, though slower, will allow for you to "Develop by inspection".DANIEL C : The data sheet states an ISO of 100. Hope this helps.

A decent utility paper

It is a decent utility paper, but highlights sometimes come out a little muddy due to the paper itself not being a bright white. And while polyphenol developers can work with this paper, the silver in the emulsion tends to react leaving the whole sheet with a slight greyish tint that compresses the tonal range. Regular paper developers work just fine.

Great product

Excellent product, at least in my cameras it seems to be ISO 8.

A great product at a really amazing affordable price

I have tried other Foma products before. I’m a fan of Foma Classic 100 film with its great classic look and great contrast. I have also used Fomafix fixer and also find it good product. This photo paper is also a great product at a really amazing affordable price. Very recommended!

great product for pinhole cameras

I used this in a photography class to create long-exposure pin-hole camera images. It was great at capturing and recording enough light to then print by photographing with an ipad, enhancing and then printing the reverse image. Will use again.

Excellent

Beautiful paper, easy to use and dries very nice and flat. Took a few tries to get the hang of how the paper worked best, but it’s been very consistent ever since. I love the velvet finish. I’d definitely repurchase.
