work horse!

Good on price, may not be the best brand or size out there, but for what it can do it helps me with what I need to do. My favorite is it has a sensor trigger.

Great product at a great price!

I really can't believe that this product doesn't sell for two or three times this price. I have purchased 6 monolights from Adorama and three of them are this model. I use them in my indoor studio, and along with the 3-light travel case, they also do double-duty as my standard location lighting package. I use them with softbox, beauty dish and brolly box light modifiers. They have proved to be plenty powerful enough for my portrait work. But if you need to light large groups on location you may want to consider a model with highwer output. The latest version has some nice new features including a proportional modeling light and a locking screw to hold an umbrella more securely. I have not used the DC power option but it is nice to know it is available. After many tens of thousands of exposures I have never had a problem of any kind. The construction quality and versatility seem to go far beyond what anyone should expect at this price point.

Extremely Pleased !

I would highly recommend this for any photo enthusiast. While it may not meet Professional standards it is a great piece of equipment at a very reasonable price for beginners.

Excellent Compact Light

For use indoors it is quick to set up and get into use with plenty of power for individuals and moderate sized groups.

Holy Shamoly what a light!

This is money well spent for anyone wanting to learn studio flash. The unit fires every time and it is powerful...use of a light meter will take out the guesswork. One light is all I own and with hot shoe flash...all I need right now. If I had one "complaint" it would be that the assembly instructions were sketchy, but most anyone can put it together without difficulty. [...] I will purchase more of these when the time is right!

EXCELLENT

I am totally satisfied with this light. Best uses would be a second light for fill or accents but I use it as a key light also. Will get the 360 next. GREAT FIRST MONO-LIGHT. Several of my students have now bought one since I used it in several of my courses.

I am happy with this product

Remote sensor does not work at all in average lighted rooms. However because it does work in dimmed environment there is a great solution. Place any type of small cover over it (covering say 50% or so). this may be a small translucent cap or a small bent piece of cardboard 1x1 in. square or so and presto:Problem solved ! However in the future the problem should be solved at the factory as this may cause several unnecessary returns by customers. First of all, users may not find out the problem right away...or find out the hard way.... And they may not figure out the solution or even want to deal with it or accept it. But other than that, this is a great unit for the price. (I have more expensive heavier units and wanted a lighter one.)

Good, but...

Test switch on back and wireless test button do not consistently fire the unit. [...] (hmmm....)Actual shooting - seems to fire better (95%)Works well with my more expensive units. My more expensive units have fired 100% for over 10 years.

Excellent Value and Solid Construction

This is an excellent value. My next addition will be the 300 Watt Second model and I will utilize this unit for a hair light.

Second one, still great!!

This is my second unit and I'm going for a third more powerful one. It's tried and tested enough for me to outfit with a full set. I still cant believe the price. Since I'm overseas I'll buy one just to put up as backup.

They are good

I have a few different brands of monolights i've picked up over the years. I prefer these to my alien bees. The flashpoint 2 has great build quality. They are more consistent than the cheap [*] strobes you find on the auction sites. They are a quality product at a good value.

They fixed all my concerns.

I bought one when they first came out and the umbrella holder was weak. They have now added a set screw to hold the umbrella. The first one required you to remove the bulb to put the protective cover on, the newer one has a long enough cover. Works fine for general use with digital cameras and 200 rating. I love the ability to dial the power up or down. 150 watt secconds is enough for most uses, if not get the more powerfull one. I use them several times a month, if your income depended on them I would spend more for allien bees or somthing more durable. I will not wear them out in limited use for many years. For us ten million semi-pros cant be beat. I have two may buy a third one that is more powerfull for really big groups Charles L. Mims old guy still trying to learn.

Good Value Good Price Nice Results

I use this for portable head and shoulders and couple shots at events. I am going to get another one to match the one I have. The basic unit has more than enough power for light commercial use. I really like the varible output on a dial. I was not expecting this much quality for [$]. Charles L Mims

Great Buy

I got the 320a last week. Overall it is a great buy. I would like a bit more power but I bought this to see if it would be suitable. I will be purchasing the 300Ws model and use this as a hair light or background. Awesome deal. The colour is good the charge time is great one small niggle I'd like to see: 2) the flashtube protector could be deeper so that it protected the light bulb too. Again a small thing. I would not hesitate to buy these again.

Excellent Monolight

This is my first monolight as I'm learning portrait photography with an in-home studio. So far I have a number of casual portraits of my wife and daughter using this monolight anda reflector, and they have turned out very well. I wasn't sure if this would be enough light output by itself for portraits, but you might be surprised what can be done. The slave flash has worked every time, and the colors have turned out pretty good. Could probably get a little better color from a better umbrella, but for the cost I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal. I haven't been disappointed.
