Questions & Answers

Tuan N : Will this product work on my Nikon D3000? I am trying saves money for this so I can take pictures of the wedding.BRACK D : Yes it will work. This is a nice, inexpensive setup that has worked well for me and my Canon but it will be the same for a Nikon.MIKE S : I experienced two problems with this unit. 1. Your digital flash on your camera will not fire the slave units in sync. I have to use one of the old "standard flashes" that I used for a film camera, only then would it fire in time. Two, the slaves on the flashes had to covered halfway with black tape in order to "see" the flash coming from my camera. This was a major trial and error experiment and a little frustrating to get right. I'm unsure why i had to do this but it works. Good luck.
N O : Hello am i able to attach a polarizing filter to the lights?DOMINIC K : Not as is, there is nothing on the front to attach the filter to, you'd have to find a filter holder that would mount to this light.
Shopper : I HAVE A CANNON T4 WHAT WILL I NEED TO MAKE THESE LIGHTS WORK WITH MY CAMERA? I NEEDS SPECIFIC ITEM NUMBERS SO I CAN PLACE MY ORDR THANKS.DEVON B : no you dont need any specific ,just a remote triggerCAVELL H : These have a flash slave build in, so at minimum you would need another flash to trigger them. You can also use a variety of radio slaves via a 3.5 mm trigger cable. I some times use the Flashpoint 4 Channel, Radio Remote Control Set, with Transmitter & Receiver with Shoes, Range of 65' SKU: FPRRS4 MFR: A22 and another product which I can not find the number for. Which receiver you buy depends on your budget.JOSEPH R : Though perhaps not the right configuration for a "pro" (I don't believe these lights are right for a true pro either), you actually do not "NEED" anything else, as you can set the lights up to be a slave to your on camera flash.SCOTT M : Hi there, You don't need anything. These lights have an optical trigger. sooo you just set your pop-up flash to manual mode and the studio lights will trigger the instant your pop-up does. If you plan on using the flashes outdoors in the daytime, you may want to invest in some cheap wireless radio triggers. These are available on ebay for around 30 bucks for a set, but you don't need them indoors I have owned these studio flashes for about 2 years and can honestly say they cannot be beat for the price.DAVID R : I also use a t4i with this kit. In order to trigger the flashes you will need a hotshoe adapter with a pc-link plug. I don't know the model number, but adorama can sell you one for less than $10. Another option is to use Radio Popper remote control units for wireless operation. That will cost you more. I hope this helps. BTW, these lights work very well for portrait shoots.

Great lights at an affordable price!

Bought these last week and have used them several times and they have performed well so far. I am truly impressed that such affordability could produce great results! They work well on slave and have fired every time. I like that you can control the output of the light from 1/4 to full power. Definitely a great start-up kit for beginners but would recommend this for continuous use in small studios, like mine, as well.

Power in a small package

I brought this kit as a starter kit years ago and I still use it. It's prefect for doing protraits in client's homes. I have upgraded my lighting but still use this kit more than the other lights. They are my power money makers more than the higher price lights I use because of the ease of travel and setup in homes.

Good for Starting My Studio

I wanted a basic light set to start my studio and this is just right for doing that. The monolights work well and are plenty bright. It's great to have the modeling lights and remote slave built in. It was easy to set up and the stands and umbrellas seems sturdy enough to me. The case is big enough to carry most of my camera equipment.

great starter kit

was looking for a good starter kit that I could use for fill lights once I decided to upgrade. So far I couldn't be happier with this kit. For the money, I definitely think it's worth it. the light stands are a little flimsy but as long as you don't trip over the cords, you should be fine. it's also nice how everything packs neatly into the case and still leaves you room for plenty of accessories.

BF160's are awesome, case is roomy

I bought this kit to add to my existing BF160's. The BF160's are awesome little lights, and the case from this kit fits 4 of them with stands (2 from this kit, two smaller other brand), 4 umbrellas (1 LTU40BC, 1 other brand), 4 barndoors (LTBBD), and 2 gel sets (an older version of LTBHC). It is a tight fit, but way more lights in a smaller package than most other portable lighting kits. It looks like they've improved the umbrella mount since the last time I bought BF160's, but not enough. It is still loose. Bring binder clips to secure your umbrellas. The stands are sturdy and pneumatic, so you don't have to worry about the light suddenly crashing down if someone releases the lock. The stands I received are 7.5', not 7' which is a little bonus. They will nicely double as background stands.

Loves it

only thing to complain about is that the fuse wore out after almost 10 uses and b/c this is my fist set idk if that is normal or not. its a great starter kit with everything you need, minus a hot plate adapter.

Nice starter set

I really like this kit. I am still waiting for the umbrellas to be shipped (still on backorder) works great with the softbox and barndoor. Case is sturdy and has room for extra items. Got as a gift and I think it is a great starter kit. Model light runs a little hot so be careful.
