Flashpoint CB-06 Hard Carrying Case with Wheels

I bought this because I needed something for holding my camera gear between the front seats of my F150 pickup (where a console would normally sit) to protect that gear from potential damage which might otherwise be caused by our pet Cavapoo (dog) as he roamed around the pickup or lay between my wife and me while we traveled. (It had to be long enough to hold a Canon 400 mm f/2.8 L lens with hood attached for use, supplemented by a doubler, and the thickness of a pro Canon DSLR to facilitate my quick access to that rig, should I see something I wanted to "shoot." It also needed to be wide enough to accommodate another camera with attached Sigma 150-600 mm Sports lens , plus whatever incidental gear I chose to throw into it.) This is certainly not the purpose for which the case was intended, but its thin sides would allow the widest potential space, while its length would suffice for my purpose. It had a flat zippered access on the side I would put on top. That side appeared to be substantial enough, once zipped into place on top of the resting case to support the weight of our dog, while protecting my gear from scratches or other impacts resulting from the dog's walking or lying upon it. (It could sag inward for support from the underlying gear, to the extent that the shape of the case and its zipper permitted.) Unfortunately, it fit so tightly that it was a chore positioning it where I wanted it. I concluded, once it was in place, that I would leave it there, transporting the gear to its resting place in another case I had bought for that purpose. Once in place I was able to put in the gear and zip up the case; however opening the case involved swinging the top upward and outward away from the driver's seat, thus increasing the height of the barrier between me and my passenger. At this point I am using it as intended. While it severs the intended purpose, the dimensions of my gear, coupled with the shape of the case, render it far from an ideal solution. Never-the-less, it is the best thing I have come up with so far. Fortunately, the holiday discount price rendered it more affordable than any other potential approach to fulfilling my intended purpose. Only time will tell how well it serves its intended purpose, but so far it seems to be working adequately.
