In this time-lapse video of rising dough, we compressed 4 hours into 26 action-packed seconds. We used a total of 500 JPEGs, shot in manual exposure and focus mode. (Final video assembled in Adobe Premiere Elements after being batch-processed in Adobe Photoshop Elements.)

Easy Setup

There are three parts to the Flashpoint Wireless Wave Commmander Remote Intervalometer: A receiver, a transmitter, and a connecting cable (sold separately) that connects the receiver to your camera. Both the remote transmitter and receiver run on AAA batteries, with a claimed 20,000 shots per battery set. There are four radio channels so you can run multiple units, or switch channels to avoid radio interference.

To get started, mount the receiver on the flash shoe (or just tape it to your tripod leg if you need the flash shoe for a flash) and connect it to the camera via the appropriate cable. The Flashpoint Wireless Wave Commander Remote Intervalometer comes in packages with cables for Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, and Sony cameras with remote accessory ports.

The remote control is simple: Just press the big shutter release button. Flashpoint claims a 350-foot range, but we were able to operate the camera from approximately 500 feet away. Since it is operated via radio frequency, line of sight is not necessary and in fact, we were also able to trigger the shutter from the other side of a wall.

Intervalmeter

Using the four-way toggle switch and Set button, choose exposure length, intervals between exposure, number of shots in the sequence, and delay time in hours, minutes, and seconds until the first shot. You can shoot up to 399 shots, or choose unlimited if you're shooting more. Intervals can be as short as 1 second or as long as 99:59:59.

 

Exposure

For exposures less than 1 second, set shutter speed on the camera. If you are planning on a long exposure, set your camera's shutter speed to "B" (bulb) while in Manual exposure mode. Now go to the "Long" setting to set the exposure time in hours, minutes and seconds, for any length from 1 sec to 99:59:59.
