Got my business back on track

I have used this bulb a lot for teaching as it works with any camera vs strobes. It is large but it has a good color and and can be used much like a monolight in an umbrella or softbox. The output is bright but I would say you need at least this much of a bulb to use umbrellas and softboxes. The output is actually softer than a strobe right from the bulb itself so you could use a snappier silver umbrella to bring up the output and still have a soft light. I also own a couple Bonlux Cob LED lights for a similar purpose. You can mix this with strobes as well.

The light bulb is more compact than the old ones that I have been using, it has consistent output and very close to daylight balance. I wish there is some sort of labeling on the box to indicate the watts. Overall I am very please with the bulb.

These large bulbs work like a charm.  The output is great and they are long lasting.  I use them for constant light for headshots and I can leave them on all day and they just keep going.  They do get a little bit warm, but are quick to cool after being turned off.

I purchased these to use for photographic purposes. I received these late due to weather and 2 out of the 4 bulbs were bad. Not happy with quality.

I would not buy this product again.

cool and bright

First time using fluorescent bulb and really like it. It will stick with it from now on. The regular 500W bulb is too flimsy and very short life. I believe this one can last many time longer.

Cannot find a suitable metal reflector because the bulb neck is 3" dia. right to the metal screw.

Great price for just what I needed.  Received quickly - which was important as I had no backups and a shoot in a few days.  Will continue to purchase these bulbs.

Great Purchase

All 4 arrived in good condition and they all worked. Items were packed very well. The 1st bulbs I recived a while back with the light boxes were 75 watt. I didn't try them as soon as I recived them. Months later I set up the boxes and one light didn't work but it was to late to return. The solder on the base of the bulb was bad and I guess the gases escaped from the bulb. Test the bulbs as soon as you recive them. I'll reorder when these burn out. Good value and free shipping.

Good price point

I wanted to set up three types of studio lighting kits. one light setup using Speedlites when no power is available. One using a constant light source, and one using Strobe lights only . Two of the three setups was always hot, requiring a cool down time, aswell as a warm studio. I saw an ad about Fluorescent light kits, but I had my doubts about color value/temperature. Fluorescents tend to be hard to work with, giving off varing/inconsistent skin tones. This is especially true if your camera is limited to just one setting for fluorescent shooting. This Spiral Bulb is what is called a Daylight light emitter, (5500k). This is good, however if the camera you use does not have an array of fluorescent features such as Daylight /Fluorescent modes, this bulb may not be for you. But if your camera has  simular in camera light setting capabilities such as my D7000, you will love this light, that this bulb produces. Using a two (If you can three lights is better always) light setup to give you main light, fill and back light features. You will get great results everytime. But the added bonus, you stay cool and get great results/color!
They offer larger size bulbs 500 watts and up but this one works fine for me. Haven't used it for extremely long hours yet, so to determine long life I can't say. but what I can say, so far so good!!

Great Bulbs

I broke a similar bulb, the replacement was $10 higher in price. Although, %40 smaller this bulb seems brighter and will work fine. I bought 4 and got a good discount. First test produced good results.  I plan to order more soon.

I use three of these lights to shoot stock photos for my ecommerce business. These bulbs are bright and run pretty cool, which is why they are ideal for me. Anyone looking to sell on [@] should give these a whirl.

These fit my fixtures okay but they sure are big like a cfl on steroids but they seem to work fine

i found what seems to be this exact bulb at many other places for much more money. $39.95 seems to be a common price for this thing. its very bright and [$] is a bargain from what i could find online.only problem is the diameter of the base (above the screw in part) is pretty large. in a ProMaster Cool Light 3 in1 i couldnt fit all 4 of these bulbs. the 4 sockets would have needed to be spaced out a little further for all to fit. be sure to check your sockets and how close they are if you plan to use a bunch of these in one fixture. i can still fit 2 of these 85w plus 2 smaller into my fixture.GREAT PURCHASE!
