I have an older fill light in my studio. It is difficult to adjust the power settings as it is mounted high and behind an umbrella. When it died recently I decided to replace it with the Flashpoint Studio 400 Monolight. I have other Flashpoint battery powered flash units with the R2 remote control. This is just want I wanted. With the Flashpoint flash with R2 remote I am able to adjust the power settings from the remote on my camera. This means I can easily change power settings without having to get on a ladder and try to blindly adjust the power. 400 WS is powerful enough for my fill light. The remote means I will be able to use it more often at different power settings. The modeling light is bright enough to see what it is looking like. The Flashpoint lights have been very easy to use and are well built. The remote is easy to use to adjust the light including the options like turning on and off the modeling light, beep sounds and channels. Adorama has a great price for it.

I have 3 of the Flashpoint 300ws monolights. No criticisms at all. My son bought me the 400ws (watt/second) version as a holiday gift (which was nice) but in a pro bono engagement gig, I got rapid fire shots (within a second) of 5 or 6 which nailed some keepers. The 300 w/s units are great, no qualms. But I am upgrading all of my 300 monolights to the 400 version because the short recycle time allows me to get a lot of shots in a shorts period of time which my 300 w/s lights could not do. Your profit may not be like mine. A $100 monolight pays for itself on the first shoot with the way I charge.

The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the fact that it can?t go lower than 1/16, so consider this a 4.5 rating. But this is an amazing value for the price. Brightness rivals the sun. Built well. Syncs perfectly with the Godox/Flashpoint wireless system.

The R2 receiver works great as I don't have to go over to the light to make changes in power output. I have used it in about 100 portrait sessions

I bought two of these on sale ($109 each) Very cheap feeling and the biggest issue is the baby pin mounting point, it?s not deep enough and is too wide in internal diameter so the head just rocks back and forth on the stand. Very annoying when trying to precisely position the head, especially with a large modifier on it. Other red flag is that the modeling light bulb is very long (about 4 inches) and it sticks out beyond the included reflector. This is so annoying, you can?t just leave the reflector on and put the head away, you have to remove the reflector then put the protective cap on then find a place for the reflector to live. Build quality is nowhere near as good as the battery powered Flashpoint stuff but it?s 400ws for $109 so what can you do. I would only recommend buying this when it goes on sale which happens a few times a year.

As a whole, the unit gives out powerful light. It stopped working after several sessions and had to exchange for another one. It seems like not very reliable in the long run compare to other brands.

I have several of the Flashpoint battery-powered strobes, but wanted something I could plug in and get a decent modeling light when I shoot indoors. The Studio 400 is inexpensive but seems well built. Power goes from 1/1 to 1/16, 5 stops in 1/10 stop increments. I don't see the lowest power being 1/16 as an issue because if I want lower power I can always use my AD200s. (They all play nicely with each other) I've only used it for one shoot so far and it worked perfectly. The modeling bulb blew out midway during the shoot, and I replaced it with an LED bulb which runs cool. These are even more discounted right now for Black Friday! I have no idea how they sell them for the price, but get one or a couple, you won't regret it.

Works great for my semi-permanent studio key light. The modeling lamp becomes very hot so I swapped it out with a 150W equivalent LED. I wish this light was able to go below 16th power but for the price, great piece of equipment, especially as an overhead source with a built in transceiver.

This and the 300ws monolights are my first studio lights and I couldn't be happier. The flash recycle rate is super fast and the light output is amazing.

This unit will "lighten" my load as it will replace my Norman 800 lighting set up. I am very pleased with this unit and the radio slave system I bought with it. Extremely good value for the price.

Excellent monolight and excellent pricing.Very powerful and fast refresh times. So good I'm buying another one. It doesn't support TTL, but IMO opinion TTL doesn't work all that great anyway. Power level is easy to set with a few test shots, light meter, etc. No clue why the modeling light is so old school. Should be LED, but it's not.

Flashpoint Studio 400 is a very reliable product and can be used with same trigger used for my Godox AD200 (purchased 2 300's and 2 400's so far, and ready to purchase a few more of each soon). Godox and Flashpoint are interchangeable which is a big plus!

This is the first radio frequency strobe I have owned and I really love the simplicity, its construction and its faultless performance. I liked is so much I have purchased the 300 watt version of this strobe and it is scheduled to arrive today. I do have one issue and that is the fact that the lowest setting for the strobe is 1/16 th. I wish it would go down to 1/64th. I am considering purchasing a piece of the diffusion material to drape over the front of the strobe if I need it. I do have a large diffusion disc and a stand to hold the disk however my studio is quite small and is would be difficult to fit into my space.

Can't say enough about how efficient the light sources are
By SC S.
Have a series of the Flashpoint monolights that are used in my studio, 2 of the 400 and 2 of the Rapid 600 all with the R2 system and a Nikon transmitter. Can't say enough about how efficient the light sources are which can be controlled individually or in any combination right from the shoe-mounted transmitter on the camera. All Bowens mounted boxes and diffusers further enhance the output. Am getting ready to purchase Flashpoint XPLOR 600 for field use, also with the R2 system. Buy these no...
