Works well with my Nikon D800

Flashpoint TTL Mini Speedlite used with Nikon D800 Description: - low price, compact, hot-shoe-mounted, TTL compatible, accessory speedlight - basically, an alternative replacement for the Nikon SB-400 - uses two AA batteries - remembers previous settings - well-made (e.g. metal mounting foot, has locking pin) Pros vs. Nikon SB-400: - has manual mode with user selectable 1/128 to full power - has strobe mode with selectable # of flashes and strobe time - user adjustable power even in TTL mode - LED display shows camera and flash status - USB interface for future upgrades - comparable exposures compared to SB-400 - works with any other camera in manual or stroboscopic mode! Cons vs. Nikon SB-400: - no swivel flash - slightly larger - slightly heavier - over-exposure in TTL mode (however, globally correctable in my case by setting -2.0 compensation for TTL mode) Issues: - I was not able to get this flash to expose properly with my Nikon P7700 in TTL mode (note: the SB-400 works splendidly with this same camera)

About Flashpoint Mini TTL

The Flashpoint TTL Mini Speedlite for Nikon is an extra small dedicated AA battery operated automatic TTL and manual shoe mount flash that is perfectly suited to act your 'always ready to go' camera companion. TTL Mini acts as a single light source, a fill light to natural or artificial source lighting, a synchro-sunlight device, or even as a trigger to fire remote flashes. This modelcan also fire at repetitive stroboscopic sequences with thermal protection.

The setting for exposure is entirely and accurately controlled by the camera through the standard TTL dialog and FEC testing. Results are highly uniform compared to automatic flash systems that use optical sensors to regulate output to the demands of the scene photographed. In manual, the flash consistently delivers 22 levels of light from 1/128 to full power - no matter the subject or situation - where amount of light that reaches the camera is controlled by aperture or distance from subject. The power output is maxed at a guide number of 45 at ISO 100. That provides a f/9.0 at 10 feet at a standard 400 ISO rating.

With this 5 ounce lightweight economical hero atop your camera, you can accomplish flash solutions where you might have left a heavier flash behind! One set of AA's, alkaline or rechargeable Ni-MH, provide 100-1500 flashes with amodest recycle time of 6 seconds at full power.

Every camera bag needs a TTL Mini Speedlite for Nikon to be its light companion.
