Great Price - Limited Use
I will say the unit does produce a nice soft light. However, the brightness of the light falls short. Shooting at ISO 400 with the light 3.5 feet from the subject all I got was a f2.8.
Assembling the unit requires long arms in order to push the locking ring in place. Mounting the diffuser on the front required that I clamp down two sides of the diffuser before I could get the other side to slip into place.
The hole for mounting the light on a stand is non-standard. It requires undoing the lock knob almost all the way and sliding the light onto the stand. Tighting the locking knob first clams the light to the stand and then it secures the tilt mechanism.
Although the light comes in a nice soft case there is no place to store bulb. The bulb is huge. It runs from its socket to just short of the diffuser. Since there's no place to store the bulb in the case taking the light on location could be a problem.
It you want to shoot low-light, medium to closeup, studio portraits then this light will work for you. Its design is clever but not the greatest.
I plan to use it for table top work which requires time exposures.
