Perfect product and price for my use

I use this product with a game camera, outdoors in all kinds of weather. I had to use a 3/8 adapter the 1/4inch was too short to mount to camera

light and strong, great price

This light head makes it easier to carry, move, and adjust the tripod and camera quickly.

Good value

Seems to do the job. Maybe a bit on the flimsy side

This is good stuff, affordable price.

The only complain I have is that I must need a hex key to release the quick release plate off the camera. The alternative is to keep the plate on the camera "permanently".

Exceeds my expectations

Solid ball head, very glad I purchased this item, out performs my more expensive ballhead, would recommend to others.

Great Small Ball Head

My first concern was that whether this ball head compatible with Arca-Swiss type plates. YES, it is! I purchased this ball head for a month-long hut-to-hut in the Alps. The quality is not at at the level Really Right Stuff, but this ball head is a steal for the price. As I do with my much heavier Gitzo tripod and Really Right Stuff ball head, I plan to shoot in mirror up mode for increased sharpness.

Great product with one design flaw

This is a great product for the money. If you are a nikon DSLR user, you will need to buy extra 6mm washer [...] and put it under you quick release plate because nikon slot is too shallow for the plate.

Poor Quality

Do not buy this ball head or the Flashpoint tripods. On my first outing with this stuff one leg fell off the tripod when I was pulling it out. On the Ball head the locking pin fell out on the first use. The head was still functional, but without the locking pin I was extremely worried about having the camera fall off the head in use. You do get what you pay for. I threw good money away on this ball head and tripod. I will not make the same mistake twice. I have purchased a ReallyRightStuff head and plates and soon will be upgrading my tripod as well.

Fairly solid lighweight unit.

Very useful in the close up photography I do. I is also handy for landscape and normal day to day useage. With my bad back I really appreciate the weight savings. So far I've lugged it for over four hours and could have gone longer. I guess I can use the weight savings to pack a sandwich.

GREAT BOONIE TROMPER

I have recently converted a SLIK 330 Pro tripod into an ideal relatively low cost "boonie-tromping" tripod by switching the center column to the optional shorter column and by replacing the SLIK pan-tilt head with the this F1 head. This combination weighs 2 pounds 11 ounces with only 11 ounces of that weight taken up by the F1 head. I was apprehensive when I opened the Adorama package and saw how tiny this 11 ounce head actually was. However, I have used it on a ten day trip to Utah and it has supported my 40D and 70-200mm f/4L IS lens with ease. Since the F1 is Arca Compatible, I can use my A/C accessories with it. I especially like using my RRS L-bracket since keeping the camera body directly over the head in the portrait position is much more stable than if the camera were cantilevered over to the side as when using a non-L-bracket mounted camera. I would not necessarily recommend the F1 as an all-around head if I were to desire to mount a heavier package but, since this little head is so stable, I would look into the F2 or F3 heads as all-around camera mounts.

Decent for price

It has a great price and works well with the same line of Tripods however with only one use, I find that I have to overshoot the subject to account for the ball drift. I bet that much more expensive models would lock more sure but for the price this works. The best feature is low weight. I will use this all the time from now one for it is light as a feather.

OVER RATED!!

When camera is mounted and tried to rotate, there is a hang-up giving it a very unsmooth movement. The tension controls could be a bit longer, for they are hard to work.

Great for leveling for pans

The head has a very firm feel when clamped. I'm not so sure of the accidental realease mechanism. Made of quality materials. But lacks full instructions on use.

Great travel head

I got this head for a world trip. I wanted a light and compact ballhead with a panning base that could hold my D200 + 18-200 lens, about 1.5 kg. I searched the Internet and visited BH Photo Video and Adorama. There are many small tripod ballheads, but none met my criteria. Some are heavy and/or expensive or overkill. Others are flimsy or lack the features I wanted. I even ordered another ballhead, but it used grease and plastic in its mechanism. On my last visit, I quite stumbled upon this little wonder of a ballhead at the Adorama store. It even includes a QR plate, something that could have saved me the [$] I spent on a separate Kirk plate. It locks down well, uses no grease, and is sturdy enough. The panning base is not the smoothest and the ballhead is not as silky as some others, but these are minor drawbacks given my use for it. The biggest problem is the QR clamp. You have to be careful to fit the QR plate properly (I use a Kirk plate), otherwise it won't lock securely, and the safety pin is a bit annoying. I tried swapping the QR clamp for my Kirk clamp, which is much better, but the ballhead uses a different kind of mounting screw and the two were not compatible. Overall, I have been pleased with this little ballhead: the price is right, it's sturdy enough to hold my camera, and its weight and size are just what I was looking for.

It works for me!

The "pro" who challenged me to use a tripod had an oversized tripod ball head. The ball on this head is a fraction of the size of his, but it's just a fraction of the cost, as well. It works well with my Nikon D70 and the lenses I use with it. That's what counts with me!
