JACK H : does it have 1/4 so threaded holes on on all four sides? I want to be able to mount it on a monopod below the cameraq. Will this work?DEWITT G : Whatever you want to do, you will need a mounting bracket; it may not fit on the camera. It is a good light and I like it. ThanksDEWITT G : Whatever you want to do, you will need a mounting bracket; it may not fit on the camera. It is a good light and I like it. ThanksDEWITT G : Frankly, I don't understand what you mean by the light having 1/4 threaded holes on the four sides; but I do know that it works fine, really good. Hope I'm of help. JAMES M : I no longer have this light, but looking at the picture it has a slot on all four sides where you can slide a hot shoe adapter into. I used this with a GoPro to light a subject in the car at night and the 144 LED worked well for this. It was mounted under the dash. Sorry I don't have this model anymore.PHIL R : Jack, It only has one mounting hole however the light can be turned any direction PhilJAMES A : It has shoe mounts on all for sides, no 1/4-20 mount at all. The shoe mounts are not strong enough to mount anything other than a very light mic on top. Mounting it below the camera is not going to work very well without s completely separate mount.WILLIAM K : The light has no threaded holes instead it has 4 slots, one on each side. The 1/4 thread hole is actually a separate part (plastic block) that slides into any of the 4 slots. So in effect you can move the 1/4 thread to any of the 4 sides.RICHARD N : It has a 1/4-20 on the bottom and no problem using it upside down or at any angle. To mount it below the camera either use small bungee cords or use a small israeli arm with a small clamp to attach to the monopod under the camera.EARL R : It does not have threaded holes on all sides. The bottom has a male part that fits on the hot shoe of any camera with a std. hot shoe. It also has a 1/4" threaded hole to mount on a any tripod or device. The other 3 sides have a female slot that matches a hot shoe so that additional lights can be mounted to the first one. Thus, only one tripod is needed for 4 or more lights.
ANWAR T : are there barn doors that can be purchased as an accessory?JAMES E : I don't know about the blending but it does come with barn doors for diffusing and temp correction and the unit can be dimmed. Because it is easy for the power with to be turned on when, I remove one of the 5 AA batts. This works and it's much quicker only having to reload only one battery. !! It is really too easy for the power switch to be accidentally turned on!!DAVE B : Not that I am aware of but I have formed my own out off black wrap foil and configured to the light it's simple and cheap buy some cinefoil or black wrap from Adorama as this comes in handy for many applications!LINDA B : I don't think so but you could probably fashion a snoot or something quick out of a black foam sheet you can get at a crafts storeMICHAEL M : Yes
Shopper : at what range in yards does the beam go ?HOWARD B : I've found that a limit of a small group of people at 7 to 10 feet is best.JAMES E : 1-2 yards falls off after that. Good price good light do not leave all batteries in it (tends to turn itself on) taking one battery out will resolve issue. I have 2 of these units because I don't like flash.THOM W : I bought the cn160 which only puts out daylight. It has a nice light throw up to 10 ft. When you buy a led light that changes color temp you are buying a light with half the LEDs that listed because it uses 2 lights to make one output. The light has 72 daylight and 72 yellow bulbs I assume if you use daylight 72 bulbs are on. The opposite for 3200 degree light Thom Wolf DAVID C : This unit is intended for close up use. I would day that the limit for fill would be around ten feet.DIXIE K : The light output is very low and cheaply made in my opinion

OK, if you must have varying color

I returned this product because I needed a brighter daylight unit. This is either 72 LED's that are white, or 72 LED's that are yellow. You can never get the 144 at full intensity. For me, and I suspect many others the 160 should be a better choice.

Great light for the price

I have 2 of these on my rig. The batteries last a long time. So long I never worry about carrying spares for a 4 hour video shoot. They use sony compatable NP-F550 batteries. They are well built with metal 1/4 in threads. The ball head work ok as long as you don't use a bigger battery. Dimmers work as expected and there is no LED buzzing noise. I do have to note at full power only 72 of the LEDs are in use at either end of the temperature knob. Also take the batteries off when in your bag. They drain power even though the light is off.

helpful in small places

I use this for interior stills when there is a dark interior spot, and a flash would be too much. The color temp adjustment is very nice.

Good unit at a good price

The light is simple to use and does the job well. It is quite bright -- probably blindingly so if put on full power and placed a few feet from your subject. It worked fine right out of the box. There are only two controls -- an off/off/brightness control dial and a color temperature dial. It took a few seconds to figure out how to attach and release the battery, but it is not a problem. The unit is probably not rugged enough for very heavy use, but it is by no means flimsy. I recently saw another video crew using the same unit, so it appears to be getting some traction. I plan to use the light off-camera on a light stand.

Very good light.

Very nice light. I shoot weddings and this light has run between 3200k to 5600k. Has a good feature which shows the remaining battery level. The light is dimmable. Also has a DC input in case you need it to be used just to light up a specific area without worrying about the batteries. I highly recommend it.

Portable lighting

Light works fine for situation where you just need a little more to get a good image. No direct power cord was included, only battery operated but for the way this will likely be used it is fine.

Flashpoint 144 LED Video Light & Dimmer.

Gives a lot of control. in directing the light where you want it. Plus gives the right white balence the user selects. I am using this LED lite with an Olympus Sp570uz still camera. Is a lot cheaper then a olympus 36R flash. Only Con with this lite. Can not leave the rechargable battery in the lite. It will discharge. The user manual tell you this also.

There are better versions out there

The light is ok but after ordering I noticed a better LED light on [...] One with an adjustable shoe mount.

Good but noisy!

This light looks good. Barn door that came with it fits perfectly. Made of plastic yet it looks decent for the money. It has a dimmer even though the range is not that great. Dimmest to brightest has about a range of one f stop. The biggest problem with this light is that it makes humming noise which interferes with your internal or external mic. The color temperature is 5800k to 6000k which is slightly on the cooler side. I need to add a light amber gel to make it more pleasant. It's good for still too especially in close range. It cannot replace flash though.

Very Brite

This light is great. If you want a strong and portable light for video or still pictures this is the one. One thing I like about this light other than the price is the weight it dosen't add any unnecessary weight to your equipment. And the fact that the light uses AA batteries is a plus, one less thing to charge before a shoot.
