Supports my 8x10 Intrepid with the heavy Nikkor 150m SW lens. If the center column is extended, that does make it much easier for wobble if there is a light wind. In those instances, I do not use the center column. Who is this for: anyone interested in an extremely light weight and strong tripod for long hikes and trips. The nice thing is that the head is also removable. I have a Small Rig quick release so I can change the heads given the situation.

I purchased this tripod for backpacking / adventuring specifically. To that purpose, weight was a major selection point. I compared 4-5 different brands and I wanted to replace my current backpacking trippod which weighed 1.9lbs but only extended about 18in or so. I wanted to find a tripod that was carbon fiber, and had a more similar extension length as my landscape tripod which I love from 3LeggedThing. Its every bit as comparable to Really right stuff from what I've seen performance wise in the field. This tripod being very light, does give on vibration stability, and the ball joint is less robust than a more stable and professional mounting system. However, it does hold quite well at D810 and a 70-200mm lens mounted on the lens, and a 14-24mm lens with the same camera. There is just a lot more vibration movement when you touch the camera. The joint however, seems stable and holds the position. The legs and leg joints seem stable and I like the weight hook on the bottom to add stability in risky areas, or high winds and long exposures. Overall, I like this tripod more than my original one. Its lighter, and has much better extension. It is a little shaky, but its also one of the lightest Ive seen. If you need something superbly stable, then a backpacking tripod in general is not what you need! -PS as you can see, the color I was sent, is not black....the model however is the same Regards, James
