Grip goin? grip.

This grip head works as advertised. It grips on to a boom arm, or clamps various objects.

Decent clamps if on a budget, and worth considering if not needing to fit to a budget.

It works well even with bounce umbrellas. Though the umbrellas have a smaller shaft, they will still clamp and hold if you use adjacent holes.

Dual Grip Head

Doesn't hold onto inserted objects very well. Might just be a case of Severe Operator Problem, but I wasn't very impressed when I tried it out.

A versatile clamp.

The clamp works well- it clamps the riser or support just fine, and the other half holds what you need it to hold. A bounce umbrella will fit and clamp securely, but if you have a reversible umbrella, you may not have quite enough of the umbrella shaft to clamp to. And the teeth of the rotating sections are deep enough to hold position of cantilevered arms or supports with modest weight just fine. I did not think to shoot any images of that particular setup, so unfortunately no pics.

Solid, gets the job done

Good engineering - this same material fails when used in thin sections such as clamping portion of umbrella lamps or soft boxes

Good price, strong

Good design...I am wary of plastic for clamping uses, but this one is bulky with no thin sections which can fail.

boom clamp

It's a little awkward initially clamping the lightstand and the boom pole, getting everything lined up, but other than that, it works fine.

Well, they work ... kinda

Bought these to use with the stands that come with the flashpoint monolights so I could turn them into a boom arm. Which works, but boy are they hard to adjust. Half the time you have to loosen them so much to change the angle that you risk having the light fall on your head. So if you need a cheap way to do a boom arm, this will work for about any system (there are different size holes to accomodate different diameter rods) but you're not going to want to touch them much.

Great for a Boom Arm, but not Umbrella

I purchased two of these because I have several large parabolic umbrellas that are almost to large to attach directly to a mono-light (Alienbees and F.J. Westcott). I searched for an item that was sturdy, and would allow me to attach an umbrella directly to the light stand shaft. Based on the description, and title "Connects a Boom Arm or Umbrella to a Light Stand," I had assumed that this item would be the solution! The smallest opening is way to large for even the largest umbrella shaft. This item will not work for my intended purpose! However, for individuals interested in using this item for boom arm attachments, it will work great! It is not very easy to adjust once you have the angle set, but I have used other similar products in the past, and this is a consistent problem with most! The flip side of the coin is it's very sturdy once you have it locked in place, boom arm extended, and a sandbag (or other heavy item) in place as a counterweight! I wanted a product to attach a huge umbrella to a heavy duty light stand. These will not work for that. However, I don't intend to return these items. I'll get some use out of them as boom attachments! I have checked "Yes, I would recmmend this to a friend," but only if the frient is looking for a something to attach a boom arm! If the goal is to attach an umbrella arm, look else where!

Strong clamp, not easy to adjust

I have used this as a boom adapter. Hair light, key, whatever. It's strong! The "teeth" keep it from slipping, but prevent quick and easy adjustments. Hard to determine if counter weight is properly adjusted. But-Still great.

Nice replacement boom clamp

I had an "old" Bogen boom clamp that broke after 20 years of use. Needed a replacement and found this. It certainly will do the job! And the handles are better than the old Bogen ones, too!

Does the job I wanted it for.

I bought this item for a hair light setup, using my Adorama ac flash slave. I use it with an IV pole for the stand and electrical conduit for the boom arm. It holds it with no problem. Works great.

Works great, priced right

I use this with a ten foot boom and have about seven feet extended. A 1000 watt novatron head rest on the end of the boom. Works great for me!
