That bracket is not needed and there are better ones out there. I've had this for over a month and the only use I had for it was for the battery mount.

Very versatile piece of kit. thread holes everywhere. didn't realize it was made of metal so it's much sturdier than I needed it to be.

I used it for mounting 2 cameras a gx8 and d5500 and it worked well . I took the center screw/ thumbwheel out and mounted an Arca Swiss plate, the 3/8x1/4 bushing was a little proud of the bar so I made a cork gasket of the proper thickness.and rubber cemented it to the bar. I think the bar and the flash shoes and thumbwheels are quite a value and are well made.

I was so disappointed when I first got this, because when you fasten your camera in the middle so that a flash can be attached to both sides, you don't even have room for your hand to hold the camera between the flash and the camera. So, before I sent it back, I tried it just on the one side (fastening the camera to the end that would have flash to the camera's tripod screw mount), and use only one flash on the left (when prepared to shoot). I found that one flash with a diffuser works very well for macro shots. I can swing the bracket closer or further away by doing it this way. So I kept it and am enjoying my macro photography using the bracket this way.

The Flashpoint Straight Bracket with Dual Shoes is a horizontal flash bracket that provides two cold shoes or 1/4"-20 screws that are situated on a 2-1/4" track on the end of the bar. The twin shoe solution makes for excellent macro photography, allowing the flexible use of two flashes to be aimed simultaneously at independent angles. Unlike the shadow-free flat lighting of a ringflash, two flashes can be used to add drama to a very close up object while still freezing the motion of the subject.
Accessories such as LED lights, microphones, remote control, or any other shoe mount accessory can all be positioned on either side of your camera. There is a 1/4"-20 screw to attach the bracket to the camera, a 1/4" socket in each tightening knob to mount the bracket on a support. The top of the shoe in removable to mount any accessory with a 1/4 -20" thread. The top of the bracket has a rubber surface to keep the objects from slipping out of place.
