I bought a Kankan backpack for my daughter ten years that has lasted all this time. I bought myself one about two years ago and they are not the same quality. The zipper broke on my backpack within just a year! I took it in to get fixed, but it broke again after just a few months. I took it in a second time to be fixed and it broke AGAIN. What a huge disappointment. The quality has gone way down. I would not buy another bag from this company. I've recommended this company to many people and now I regret it.

I purchased the "Design your own" Kanken. I am thoroughly satisfied! The colors are rich and I'm pleased with the accuracy of the pigments compared to the image online. The material is thick and not cheaply made at all. This backpack packs a good amount for my day hikes and weekend urban exploration and museum hopping. Love my Kanken :D

I wish I could love this bag as much as a lot of folks do but I do not. I was so happy upon receiving my dark navy blue backpack with rainbow stripe straps, but after wearing a white shirt the blue coloring rubbed all over my back and ruined my white shirt

I own 3 of them. 2 mini & two classics in different colors and I love it so much!! I use for work and my lunchbox slips right into it perfectly. There's enough pockets for me and I use the large padded pocket to hold my kindle.

I have had this bag since 2017 and I beat the crap out of it and it has held up beyond my expectations. . The only thing I wish is that I could wash it better, because I am so hard on my stuff. I would put one more strip of padding on the bottom of the area for the laptop and two way zippers for the front little pocket, One other suggestion is for the side pockets where you can put your drinks it would be cool if one of those was a little longer, and you could zip it up.. ..This bag is very well made, nothing has come apart, nothing has had to be replaced and all the zippers are intact at almost 8 years since purchase with daily use!

So after a snafu with shipping (received only the accessories I bought, no kanken) that was remedied quickly by customer service-note, it was easier to call them, the email response was unreliable-I received it today. I love it already and can tell it is quality stuff. I bought it to replace a work bag that I had bought from Lands' End that I was expecting to last longer than it did. I'm hoping this company exceeds my expectations on longevity. A bonus- I hadn't realized that the zippers were so well protected and would be harder to unzip than a traditional backpack, and I was initially irritated until I saw my two year-old nephew trying to open it because he loves to go through my stuff and take all my things out, and he was unable to do it. This is a GAME CHANGER for me. I had taken to leaving my work bag in my car because if I brought it into the house, he would get into it or one of his sisters. I'm thrilled about this. So note to those with intrepid toddlers-this is definitely a puzzle for them!!

I love my custom backpack. It's a great basic, sturdy, fashionable little backpack I can take anywhere. The colors turned out just as they appeared online, and the quality and feel is perfect. I wish there were some options to have more inner pockets, but I ended up buying some cute zipper pouches to throw inside for organizing and holding my pens and other smaller items I like to have.

I saw this backpack at a shop while vacationing in Iceland. I really liked the way it looked, so when I got home, I purchased one from Fjallraven online. I was a bit worried when the backpack arrived, because it appeared to be so small. Surprisingly, I was able to fit a LOT into this backpack! I love the way the zippers open all the way. I ordered the Ox Red and the color is lovely! What I didn't like was that I had to order the padded straps separately. At this price point, I think the padded straps should have been included. The backpack feels strong and sturdy. I pack a lot into this little bag and amazingly, when it's on my back, it is not heavy at all! The weight is evenly distributed and I can wear the backpack for hours while walking or hiking. Overall,  am very happy with this purchase.

I bought my Kånken a few years ago to take it on a trip to Europe, and it was so worth it! I could fit everything i needed for the long plane trip, i used it on my day trips, the foam sit was very useful, and i even embroidered it. Very high quality, and lovely colors.

I haven't had this bag on many adventures yet, but so far it seems great! It fits a lot of stuff, and I can easily put boxes out other pokey things on there without hurting my back (thanks to the seat cover). I like how far down the zippers can go, makes packing and unpacking very easy. It fits my back very nicely, without putting too much weight on my shoulders, like a usual bag would. Love!

I've had my share of Kånken backpack, both classic and laptop. I want to share my own personal experience after three years, going on four years of use with this product. First, the material. The material is great, it's unlike most other backpacks on the market today where they put a plastic coating in the interior that will flake after so many years. Thus why they have that plastic smell when they're new unlike the Kånken. It's been through Vegas heat, Northern Utah rain and heavy Idaho snow among other conditions and it has taken the challenge through and through. Having said that, these bags aren't going to protect your things if it fell in a river or something but the water resistance it provides is quite impressive. When you first buy one, please do not throw away the foam insert. This is a seat pad and it actually keeps the bag shaped more sturdy to me not to mention it provides more comfort to my back. I use my bags primarily for everyday carry. A place to keep my basic things I would carry in my pocket, wallet, phone, keys. Having said that, I have seen it work well as a bag for university. I will suggest buying the strap pads, they do provide a level of comfort if you do decide to carry quite a bit. As for washing, it's very basic and the material tends to dry quickly in the correct conditions. For the price, it does seem more expensive but it's worth the investment. The attention to detail from the materials, stitching, and hardware is top tier. You really are getting your money's worth. If your still unsure, I will suggest doing what I did the first time and buy one second hand, but beware of counterfeits. If you like it after so many months, buy one new!

My parents gifted me this backpack for Christmas when I was about sixteen. I am now nineteen and the backpack has held up very well. It is not very big, so I've never used it for school/college, but I use it every time we go camping, on vacation, to the beach, out for a day, or just if I am going to the library to study. It's so simple and versatile. After three years of regular usage, there is not a single tear and the seams are still sturdy. Almost 0 fraying. Mine is the color "pink" and while there are a couple stains, it is overall quite resistant to dirtiness. I use it both for light loads (a couple books), and for a travel bag (when it is stuffed full.) The straps can be somewhat uncomfortable when carrying lots of weight due to their slimness and tendency to push into the shoulders, but after a while, you get used to it, and the design of the backpack resists ALL back pain. I know some people use it for college, but I tend to like a larger and more compartmentalized bag for classes. I would recommend this backpack to anyone who is looking for a sturdy, cute, eco friendly day bag. Overall, although it is a little pricey, I think this bag is worth every penny.

This backpack is really nice and I really loved it until it got dirty and when i cleaned it with a sponge and soap the color in some parts faded and now it looks really ugly and it was really disappointing cause i paid $80 to get something with a good quality and this color changing after cleaning was so disappointing!

Don't get the mint green! I was super excited to get this bag, my partner surprised me with matching ones. Shortly after purchasing it I took it on a trip to Mexico. I regret taking it with me, because it quickly looked very dirty and soiled just with everyday wear. I believe I may have brushed by a door with it on my back (the door didn't appear dirty) I tried to "clean it" the recommended way (mild detergent and a moist sponge with water) and the stains never came out and I realized it would remove all the dye if I tried to clean it more. I'm not going to lie, now when I look at the bag I get very sad, there are large stains on the front that make it look super dingy it was an expensive purchase my partner made and I think it looks very bad now and I don't want to use it. I may stop in the store if possible (hard because there are few close) and see if they can do anything? :( I recommend buying a dark color if you like to explore new places!

I bought this backpack in Royal Blue a year ago. I seemed a bit pricey for me, but as I am a backpack person and use them on a daily basis, I decided to give it a try anyway. It was easily one of the best purchases I ever made. I used it daily for school (walking a lot, commuting and carrying heavy books), shopping, hiking and travel, yet it still looks just as it did when I first got it, even though most of my cheaper backpack usually gave up on me after 6 months or so. It is also a lot more comfortable than I thought it was going to be. Worth every cent, would buy it again with no hesitation.

I got this backpack a couple months ago, i got the color black for it. I have my pins displayed on it, my keychains as well. I get so many compliments for both the bag & the stuff displayed on it. Fair warning here, it does take a while to break it in. I've had this for around a month now & I'm still trying to break it in. Other than that I love it.

I ordered the glacier green and my only issue is that the color is nothing like the picture :/ Instead of the beautiful blue green in the picture I got a vibrant turquoise which isn't a terrible color but i would have preferred to get the color I chose. I bet the bag will work wonderfully but it is a little disappointing as the color in the picture is much cooler :((
