Best bang for the buck

Quality interface for an amazing deal. Upgraded from the 6i6 after I needed more inputs. Build quality and function are top notch. One note, right angle 1/4" adapters would not fit in the front preamps due to the housing not being flush with the interface. Right angle cables without an adapter worked fine.

Very versatile product!

If you need more than just a single/dual input USB interface for guitars/vocals, then this model is for you. You get 4 mic preamps, which make it great for podcasting with more than 1 guest. The first four inputs also have a 10dB pad for more headroom on "too hot" signals from mic/line/guitars. The first two inputs are designed for instruments to directly plug in. (8 analog inputs and 6 analog outputs, plus the ADAT and S/PDIF connections that bring it to 18in/8out) The Focusrite Control software creates a virtual mixer for configuring how all your inputs/outputs are routed.

So far so good

So far the interface has been working well. Seems a solid build, and no issues so far. The gain staging was apparently updated in this new version, and though I had no experience with the previous version, it seems reasonable. I like the mixing/routing flexibility of the control panel software, I appreciate having two headphone outputs, and it's really nice to have phantom on two channels at once (instead of on all four or none). Time will tell of the durability.
