The box arrived in good condition and has accepted a few 17x22 photos without issue.  I think it's sturdy enough for that purpose, but I wouldn't stack things on top of the box unless they were light enough to keep from crushing the box which, after all, is just a box made of cardboard (chipboard?) with metal corners for stability.  All of the metal is intact and hasn't yet separated from the box material.  Time will tell whether it will hold up, but for now it's doing just fine.
