Review Summary
The Fujifilm IS-mini LUT Box is a color management tool that applies a LUT (look-up table) to an HD-SDI video stream to give your video a particular, pre-defined look. It features both an SDI and an HDMI output so that it can be used with a computer monitor or TV.
Applying a look can serve a number of purposes and is particularly useful in ensuring consistency when monitoring. In an edit suite it can be used in conjunction with a monitor probe such as the x-rite i1Display Pro as a way to calibrate a computer monitor, especially a non-broadcast model with limited built-in adjustment. On set or in the studio it can be connected to the separately available IS-100 "CCBOXx" so footage can be previewed with any color correct that is expected to be applied in post. In multi-camera systems you can dedicate one IS-mini per camera/monitor pair, giving each a uniquely tailored color profile.
An Ethernet port allows the IS-mini to interface with the IS-100 using standard networking hardware such as switches and cable you might already have in place. To provide a direct link when using it as monitor calibrator there is a mini-USB port.
Ideal for CineLOG Workflows
LOG footage inherently looks flat until color correction has been applied in post. Using the IS-mini you can preview the final look before and while shooting.
IS-mini MANAGER Software
Compatible with OS X and Windows, the management software walks you step-by-step through the calibration process to make it easier, especially for users without prior experience.
Supports 3D LUT Import
3D LUTs created with the IS-manager software or from other sources - such as DaVinci or Truelight .cube files - can be imported and loaded on the device.
