This shredder does the job for what is needed in a small home office. It is compact and shreds close to 8 pages. It is a definite upgrade from my last shredder which barely did 5 pages. Since it is a new purchase, the biggest review would be its longevity. TBC...

After testing the machine it has proved to be a great addition to our office. It's simple to use, user friendly, has multiple safety features, and isn't too big for our space. It's a little loud hence the 4-stars, but it gets the job done well. Jams are almost impossible, and when they do occur there is a procedure that you follow that is noted in the manual.

I needed to replace an older shredder. In speaking with Customer Service, I was treated as a return customer and was provided with excellent service with product and pricing. The new shredder is more efficient. It is faster and makes less noise. Although the bin is smaller than my previous shredder, it is the best for what my needs are moving forward.

You can feel the power of this machine as it takes the paper out of your hand. I like that you can ever line the catch bucket with a liner to make emptying easier.

The top has a grip design that makes it easy to empty. I like the cut size - there is less paper dust. I recycle to an animal shelter where it used for litter. They like it because the smaller animals can't inhale it. The dark viewing window makes it difficult to see the shred level.

This is one awesome paper shredder. It is super quiet and does an outstanding job of destroying my personal papers, in today's times of Identity Theft this is very important. The waste basket capacity is ideal and large enough to hold what I need till I empty it. This "Fellows Powershred 49C Cross-Cut Shredder" is easy to use, clean and maintain. I strongly urge the purchase of this product to anyone.

I chose this item because of advertised performance. It promises the flexibility I need in keeping my home office secure. It also has the capability of surviving shredding of paper clips in case my helper mistakenly feeds one in.I liked the package and looks of the machine. I probably will be using it for years and years unlike the short lifetime of the machine that I replaced.

We have had such a bad time with our shredder and it is a delight to have one that works and only takes a short time. It is so easy to work, and lightweight in handling. We look forward to having this for a long time. We only use this for our daily mail and documents that we no longer need. I hate writing reviews but the Powershredder deserves one because it is the easiest to use shredder. If you have owned a shredder you know that emptying it always leaves shreds all over the place. No longer... this one works quickly and relatively quietly and all one needs do is pull out the plastic canister and voila... task completed. So glad my older shredder (not a Fellows) broke so I could upgrade to this one.

I love this shredder because it is durable and efficient. The only downside is the limited capacity of the bin which can cause the shredder to jam if it is full.

This is my 2nd shredder for home over several decades. It is the best made, quiet, easiest to use, and looks great. I have shredded several hundred papers, some with staples, some with plastic bubble wrap attached with complete success. The gears per the user documents are metal which is a distinct advantage; as is the over temperature auto shutoff, power shutoff, and safety shutoff. The bucket is slightly larger than my very old Fellowes which finally gave up. The addition of finger grips to remove the top for bucket emptying is a stroke of genius - makes it very easy. The cut size is per the specifications and is sufficient for the purpose. In general, I highly recommend this shredder - I purchased it from Amazon - after reviewing every single review on similar shredders (this was the only shredder without a single 1 or 2 gold star rather than 3, 4, or 5 by other reviewers). Unbelievable, now I know why, as I will happily post a 5 star review on the Amazon site. thanks for a great product in this day and age of cutting corners and products sold before its time; yet at what I consider to be a reasonable price. Congrats Fellowes for a job well done - and packaged very well to alleviate damage. The warranty period is very reasonable, as well.

This shredder is fast and easy to use. Outside of box should indicate that you need to oil this model. Salesperson did not tell me this which means another trip to local retailer. Also should know weight of shredder as I have weight restrictions.

Since I just acquired the shredder which is a replacement for my original PowerShred PS 55 which I have had for over twenty years, it is too soon to really rate this new shredder. However, since I had the PowerShred PS 55 for all of these years and was extremely pleased with it, I felt that replacing it with another Fellowes product would be the way to go.

This is a very nice shredder which is great for home/office use...it's medium sized which means that it doesn't take up too much room by your desk, and it sits nicely next to my desk-side recycle bin. It's not too loud, and easily handles most shredding tasks...however I was surprised to learn that it won't shred CDs for some reason. It has a very handy capacity viewing window so you can see how full the container is getting. Overall a very nice unit, but the only real complaint I have is that the unit doesn't secure to the bin like thought it would...although this is not a big deal as you can easily just hold onto the bin with your pinky fingers as you grip the main shredder unit's handles, it would be nice to be able to securely move the unit around when you need to without worrying about dumping a bin of shreddings everywhere!

WE purchased the shredder to dispose of a few years of old tax and business files. It did a lot of work in a short time. It did heat up if fed to fast, but if fed slow with short pauses it worked fine. The number of sheets fed through at once was not what was stated,at 6, but 2 or 3 worked fine and no heating issues. It jammed a coupleof times,at first, but by following instructions was unjammed easily. Now the major shredding job is done, I do not see any problem shredding what will be coming up in the future.
