This is a small but powerful unit. Great for the home or office. Powerful enough for several documents to be shredded at once.

I purchased this product 3 months ago and while shredding plain cardboard greeting cards the machine jammed and the plastic teeth inside broke. After going back and forth with customer service I was told the unit was no longer under warranty and as a "One time courtesy" they were sending me a replacement which was a much cheaper and more basic model. How is that fair? Only filled it 3 times in 3 months and the warranty is 1-year Product Warranty with a 5-year Cutter Warranty and I am being told it's out of warranty!!!!!!!!!!!! That's messed up

I am especially impressed with the quiet operation of this shredder. The handle for picking up the shredder is a bonus and will be very helpful to me.

After much online shopping and reading reviews I settled on this powerful and sturdy model. My old shredder had served a very long and useful life but was no longer functional. I was surprised to see the lack of shredder models for Home / Home Office use that didn't also have a trash receptacle, I find that quite useful and just don't want to take up the extra space. So far I have tried out up to 5-6 sheets of paper with staples and old Credit Cards with no problem whatsoever. Much more quiet than my last one for sure and great overall design. I line it with a kitchen trash bag for easy, dust free disposal.

This is the best shredder that I have ever used. It has lots of power and it shreds 10 sheets of paper without any problem. I also like the 5 gallon bin that comes with the shredder. You can shred a lot of paper without stopping to constantly empty the bin. The price was right too.

I am very impressed with the look of it and the way it works. Not very loud at all. I'm glad I read the reviews on this before I got it. Very happy with it

I received this shredder this am and am busy shredding papers. It is so quiet. Shreds well, .By far a better shredder than I had before. Sturdy constructions is a plus. Another plus is the safety feature that stops the shredder when touched as I hace 2 cats. Love the Fellows Crosscut.

We have only had the shredder for 2 weeks. Therefore, to early to know how it is going to hold up. Definitely better quality then our old one, that would jam a lot. This one is much heavier then our old one. We were pleased with that. Doing a lot of shredding of old papers. Seems to handle the load pretty good. Being that it is a cross shredder - fills bin up real quick & pieces stay trapped in shredder when you go to dump it, which is messy. No matter how much I try, I get little pieces all over the floor. Working on coming up with a better system.

It would have better if there wasn't something rattling around in the shredder.

The shredder came today so for durability I am only guessing. It seems to be very sturdy, much stronger and heavier than the one it replaced. It is attractive and I like the chute to throw non shred trash in. It does away with the trash can by the desk! Also the safety feature of shutting down when the input area is touched is a great idea.

I bought the Fellowes DS-3 10 shredder to replace another product. The DS-3 is more powerful and handles my needs with ease. I like the design which makes it easier to see when the bin is full. It is also easier to empty. I look forward to use this shredder for a long time.

So far, working as expected. Wish container was larger, but holds about 5 gal. Good looking design for home office. Recycle or compost your waste. Separate credit cards and other high gloss paper by placing trash bag in container while shredding them and dispose of them separately.

I had a year's worth of personal and work papers that needed to be shredded. I had no problems and it worked amazingly well! I've noticed that some who have purchased this complained of noise. It is a bit noisy, but it is not as loud as the large shredder at my workplace.

A stylish looking shredder that works superbly. The safety shutoff works perfectly and is a must have if there are children around. However the top must be lifted off to empty the bin and it can become messy. But the qualities of the machine for its price makes it a great choice despite that drawback.

I have been seeking a decent light-duty shredder on store shelves in the San Francisco area for a couple of years. What struck me was that the selection could be great or small and still there was no reliable way to distinguish one from another. So buying a shredder is a lot like buying a kitchen appliance: in fact, I think there should be a category called office appliances. This shredder appeared on a review site as the economical "home office" alternative to a more heavy-duty Fellowes-brand shredder, and received hundreds if not thousands (I forget which) of positive reviews. I have only had it for about a week but the first impressions are all favorable. The business end of the appliance does not seem underpowered, which was my main concern, and it is simple to operate. The plastic basket and enclosure for the shredder are inevitable but look more serviceable than tacky. I can't really comment or jucge beyond these general qualities because I have not used it over time, but I like it so far.

This shredder is strong and not too noisy, the only problem I have is that the container is not real strong. There is a small tab that the unit sets on that operates a switch that keeps it from operating that must be pushed. Too easy to break off, then no shredder.

I can't complain. Our shredder's motor gave up after I overloaded it. This one is working fine so far, although time will tell how it will last. :)

We've had this shredder about two weeks. It does what it said it would do. My only complaint is that it is very loud. The other Fellowes shredder that we had for 12 years did about the same things but it was much quieter. We hope this one lasts as long as the previous one which received a lot of work.

So far I am really enjoying my new shredder. It doesn't seem to jam up like some of the other shredders I've own, and hoping it will continue to give me good service. AE

This is my second DS-3 shredder. I have one at home and also in my office. My first one I bought six months ago, and iworks very well. My second one works very well, as well. but is a little noisier than the first, but I can live with that.
The Fellowes DS-3 is designed for home and small office use. It is equipped with a powerful motor that can drive the shredder blades to process 10 pieces of papers in one pass. After going through the blades, the papers are turned into confetti sized 5/32" x 2" that are impossible to read or reassemble. They are introduced into the machine via a 9-inch wide entry slot, which means it is wide enough for regular sized letters and documents.
The blades are strong enough to cut staple wires, paper clips and credit cards. Although it does not have a separate slot for credit cards, an icon above the entry slot indicates where they should be inserted. Shredded materials fall into a wastebasket with a 5-gallon capacity. It has a transparent window at its front allowing you to see if it is full and needs emptying. At the top of the basket is an opening through which you can throw non-confidential waste paper. When it needs to be emptied, you can use the folding handle on the shredder head to lift it from the basket.
Papers are shredded at a rate of 10 feet per minute. Running the machine beyond five minutes, however, can cause overheating. Indeed, after each five-minute run, you need to cool the motor down for 20 minutes. Although a five-minute run may appear short, it is actually the equivalent of shredding over 100 pieces of legal sized documents.
