Joe Stam has had an interest in photography since his early childhood, and still remembers breathing in darkroom chemical fumes while watching his father develop black and white prints in the 1970’s. He’s an electrical engineer and computer scientist by trade, and exhibited early technical curiosity disassembling his first camera at age 12. During his career in the automotive and then professional graphics & video industry he designed and patented many camera systems and image processing algorithms. Joe now works in the financial services industry but pursues photography as a very avid hobby. He has traveled the world pursuing this passion, with a special interest in sports and nature. Joe is also an underwater photographer and still shoots an old Nikonos RS film system. On land the Nikon D850 is his instrument of choice, but he enjoys a large collection of film and digital cameras. Joe has 4 adult children and lives in Holland, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois.
