Works great
Easy set up. I am now able to watch my subscribed cannels on my older, but fully functioning TV's. I used at home but plan to use in my RV and condo both have useable older flat screen units. This item is really a helpful tool. Just a note, it also automatically switched my TV to HDMI1, just have to remember to switch back for cable use.

Excelent product

Great device
I love this little chromecast, it easily plugs into the hdmi port on the tv, a micro usb cable supplies power and then all you do is download the google home app and start casting your favorite tv shows and movies. I don't subscribe to cable and have only been using free services for the past 4 years and this makes the experience much better than looking at the phone to watch a movie. Also once you select the movie or show to watch and cast it, chromecast connects to your wifi to get the programming so your phone isn't processing the video which means your battery lasts much longer.

Make normal TV to Smart TV
Never regret getting this stuff with a fair price at $50. You should get one if your TV is not Smart!

Very happy with the purchase.
Pretty good device. Great discounts at Adorama. Shipping was on time and packaging was awesome. Don't see any other companies using a cold pack seal on their products. Good job Adorama!

Requires another outlet, antiquated Netflix log in
Unlike the first gen, this version has to be powered by an adapter, thus requiring another outlet. It cannot be powered by a standard USB-A plug on most TVs 'cause it requires 1.5A (std USB-A only provides 500mA). The supplied cable was too short for a wall mounted TV, so needed to buy a good 6'/2m cable USB-A to USB-C cable.
Netflix log in is ridiculously antiquated because it requires entering of the actual account password. when I originally signed up I chose a long 30 character password for security as experts suggested. Typing that in with the minimalist remote is frustrating at best. Other services like Amazon Prime Videos requires us to log into the account on a computer and enter only a 6 digit on screen code, while Netflix on Roku allow log in via the Netflix App on the phone. Why in 2020 is that not available here is befuddling.
Once setup it is fine. The on screen experience is not that much better than a Roku, but the integration with the Home App is better than the OG Chromecast.

Worth getting
I have the old chrome cast and upgraded to this one. Worth the upgrade due to remote and Dolby vision and its a good price for what it gives compare to others.

Okay but not great.
It's okay, it doesn't work how I was thinking and for some sites and what not it doesn't work at all. But it's a neat Idea for someone who only has one device and a tv.

Buggy but better than nothing
We bought this to replace an older model because our older Chromecast wasn't able to handle the bit-rate of videos that were displaying still pictures along with audio so it was pausing...pretty annoying. And, this DID NOT solve the problem. As far as I can tell we don't have any "bottle neck" components so it's frustrating, but we learned to live with it. Also, this Chromecast disappears from YouTube on our devices and I've found that the work-around is to go into the app and stream music. Then, quit the music and voila it's magically available, again, in YouTube app. It's better than nothing and I've never tried another brand, but I'm disappointed.

not for xfinity stream app
I wish I would've known xfinity won't let me cast from xfinity stream app. Also, UI and "instructions" are very confusing

Didn't work.
I couldn't get it to work. It seemed to communicate with the internet and my television (which is new) also was communicating with the internet but they wouldn't talk to each other. There is, of course, the possibility that I just didn't understand what I needed to do. However, that's a critique of the product in and of itself.

Great Casting Device, Well Worth the Money
This is a fantastic streaming device, I prefer it over the other competitive devices I have used in the past, easy to make a regular HDMI TV a smart TV by just plugging in the Chromecast, then search the internet and very easily learn how to cast from a phone, table, or pc.

Great for travel and non-Smart TVs
These have gotten me through when traveling and wanting to access my paid entertainment services. Now built into some hotel TVs, it's often not. Combined with my personal hotspot, I have unlimited movies and shows! I also have a few for home use where apps are not supported.
