A less versatile option to a real flash.

My Daughter has an older Cannon Rebel with the Fong puffer because her's washes out color on close ups, so I ordered one, it works fine but my new model does fine without it. Jon

I really don't notice much of a difference between a shot with or without this puffer. The shadows are still pretty harsh around the subject. Perhaps I can decrease the flash in camera a bit, but I would've thought this diffuser would've been more effective. It is also pretty flimsy, so take care when placing it in your camera bag. With that said, it's cheap, small and lightweight, so it doesn't hurt to give it a try.

A FRIEND HAD THIS FLASH DIFFUSER ON HIS CANON REBEL T1I AND FOUND IT VERY USEFUL FOR TAKING PICTURES AT EVENING FUND RAISING EVENTS. I PURCHASED ONE FOR MY CANON T3I AND AFTER SOME TWEEKING GOT IT TO WORK ON MY CAMERA. IT DOES SOFTEN THE PICTURE MAKING REFLECTIONS/SHINNEY OBJECTS LESS OBVIOUS.

I use this when I don't have natural light. It softens the shot and brightens it up without looking like a 'flash'. Highly recommend.

I've had one of these for a while, but bought this one for a friend. It's great to have for family photos, around the house

It was inexpensive and reliably imporoves flash photos of people when you use the on camera flash. Easy to keep in your camera bag. Especially good for photographing infants. They don't have same protective mechanism for bright flashes.

For portrait use, you need to adjust the color temperature settings on your camera, or the diffuser produces a cold, unflattering light. I lined mine with a piece of injket paper cut to fit, and it improves the light quality considerably. Doing that also greatly diminishes the light, however.

You will see it as a simple and cheap piece of plastic, but at the moment you put it in front of your built-in flash and shot the first photo, you will see the difference. It works just great! For portraits, family pictures and other social events, you will have good results. It worth it!!

Great diffuser when you're traveling and don't want to lug around your regular flash equipement. Fits snuggly in the flash bracket. Works great with my Nikon D800.

Adjustable, light weight, easy to pack and use. An affordable option to tone down the harsh light from your camera's built-in flash.

I had quit using my pop-up flash at all because of the harsh light and strong shadows, but using the speedlight seemed like overkill sometimes. This is a great alternatitive -- easy and small. It also allows me to use my speedlight off camera triggered by the pop-up with the diffuser.

Expensive, but fit well, solid, and worked as advertised. Comes apart and packs very compactly.

This softens the flash and gives better skin tones. Could be a tad bigger

Strang looking on the camera, but when you use the puffer, it does what you bought it for. Attaching it to the camera is very, very easy. In shots using it for photos with my grandchildren, it really softened the light coming off the flash.

The product is used on my Rebel T2i and a 20D canon camera; my everyday cameras. The diffuser produces excellent soft lighting when documenting close portraits. I love the portability and compact size of a valuable tool.

Works good at diffusing the internal flash but I found that when I installed it on my 60D it triggered the microswitch on the shoe and turned off the internal flash. I used an xacto knife to trim it a bit so it didn't depress the switch and now it works fine but isn't quite as secure on the shoe. Still stays put though.

This product...Gary Fongs Puffer flash diffuser does exactly what it is intended for. Soft light, diffuses shadow problems. I was also impressed it fit my Canon sx10is digital shoe mount.

When it is not convenient to carry your detachable flash, or if you just need a quick shot that can't wait, this little gem really shines. It is easy and quick to install and remove, lightweight and takes up virtually no space in your pack. It makes your built-in flash a great fill flash for midday outdoor shots, or takes the harshness out of the camera flash if used for fill indoors along with one or more remotely fired flashes.

Now what kind of name is "Puffer?" It's all good. At first I didn't think much of this little light attachment just by it's looks alone, but once I slipped it on my Canon 30D and compared it to some other simple family shots....yup, there is a big difference. The puffer attached in under 20 seconds with no battle, the harsh light that you typically see was gone and the light spread clearly across my photos with a nice mild ambience. It is small and effective. It is durable, maybe not as much as I would like to see overall, but very decent overall.

Heard about this at a Capturing True Emotion seminar (which, by the way, is a FABULOUS seminar). Ordered it as soon as I got home, and Adorama shipped it out the next day. I've been using it for about a week, and it makes ALL the difference in flash photography. No more glare, no more harsh light... it's wonderful!! It is a bit bulky to carry in the case, but oh well. And you have to take it off to close the flash when you want to shoot in Manual mode. But again, oh well. It works too well to complain about either instance.

Great product for those times when you are using the on camera flash. Eliminates hard light spots on your subject(s) and eliminates red-eye 99% of the time. If you use your on camera flash you need to have this accessory it is well worth the reasonable price!

So far, I have used this product for indoor photos only. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it works. I love the light weight and it can be taken apart for relatively easy packing. I would highly recommend this product. The price is a very big plus.
