When it comes to creative lighting I love this tool, if you spend a little time working with it you will find a boat load of ways to use it and it will give you some great effects. It is not easy to get it into our Go bags, not heavy just kind of big having said that we have them in each travel kit and in the studio and it is a great product.

Great tool for direct lighting, have used it outdoors day and night and has performed well. It is always a pain to mount anything on a portable strobe but so far this one has not been to bad. It does take up some space in your travel kit but for the spedcial effects it offers this is a must have.

I've used this PowerSnoot on my SB600's and it works great better than I ever expected. I have a problem with it fitting my SB900. The 900 head is to large for it to fit properly. Don't get me wrong you can make it work but it's not a tight fit and can fall off. Other than that man it's awsome.

As with most photo equipment this is a tool and when used the right way the results are fantastic. The more I use this the more I find interesting ways to use it. I have been able to get great photos in really bad situations with a little effort and this connected to my SB-800. In fact I am about to buy two more of them.

I have been researching how to do dramatic "stage" style lighting for headshots and portraits. And it usually requires a big expensive studio system before you get into the barn doors and snoots. Finally someone has come out with an attachment for speedlight style flashes. It is really effective, I can go from an obvious key light to a spot light in what looks to be total darkness, but in mid day. It requires some experimenting (there is an instruction card included with settings, but I don't read instructions). I just put the flash on manual and change the aperture while having the shutter speed set at 1/250. There are probably fancier things I could do with this, but in just varying the f-stop alone, it's like you can do an entire series of different looks without the model having to move. One thing is to take the black part off (you can put this on a Lightsphere, it fits) is a bit difficult. The trick is to pull up on the unmarked tabs. This thing is really incredible, especially for the price.

Gives another look to your flash, unattainable any other way. Not a lot of spread, so good for small areas or as a soft spotlight. Use with or without the dome for very different looks.

I purchased this for Canon 580 EX & 580 EXII flashheads. The snoot is stressed on both heads, I expect it will break after a few uses. The opening of the snoot where it sits on the flashhead covers part of the flash, alignment is poor. Once you install the grid, you can't get it off and can barely turn it on the snoot. If I had been able to inspect prior to buying, I would never have bought it. Got no feedback from Gary Fong other than they would consider my feedback if they ever revise the unit. Not the first Fong gear I've bought, but definitely the last piece of Fong gear I'll buy.

Traveling with large light set ups may soon become a thing of the past. The Gary Fong PowerSnoot has been designed with portability in mind. This device will replace the need for cumbersome light modifiers and allow you to maximize the efficiency of your strobe but with more directional control.
Mounted off camera, instead of filling a room with soft light, the parabolic reflective interior will allow you to focus light into the areas you want to highlight, and more importantly away from where you don't.
Mounted on camera you now have tool for creating cutting edge special effects. A softer yet dramatic light can be achieved by using the enclosed inverted white dome. Either way, the PowerSnoot allows you to create "Fashion Style" photography, with a minimum amount of equipment. You become your own Master of Light.
Using the PowerSnoot, Senior Photographers now have the ability to move right from the studio to on location with ease, while still creating the edgy looks seniors of today demand. Wedding photographers will love the dramatic flair they can incorporate, without lugging a lot of extra equipment. Children and family photographers will benefit from fun effects they can now easily create.
We love this new product, and we look forward to seeing the innovative ways our customers will use it.
The PowerSnoot mounts onto the flash unit with the same patent pending grip system as our Lightsphere Universal. It is so strong that it can support the entire weight of a camera, drive and flash securely. To mount the PowerSnoot, simply place the included rubber band down around your flash approximately ¾" from the lens.
Next, lower the power snoot mounting flaps down around the outside of our flash head so it rests flush with your flash lens. Thread the included Velcro cinch strap through the belt loops, pull tight, and fold the Velcro over on itself locking it in place The PowerSnoot will fit any rectangular flash up to 3.125 inches in Width, by 2 inches in Height.
The Lightsphere Universal Powersnoot fits most flashes!
