Decent knife, Terrible factory edge

Decent knife for hard use, a little unwieldy for intricate carving IMO but solid enough for all day baton work. Reason for 2 star is the TERRIBLE factory edge it came with and uncomfortable carry in factory sheath, rides too high off your belt and hits any and all backpack straps.

Fantastic knife

I own many knives, including the Strongman. The LMF II is my favorite ........by far. The fit and feel of the handle is fantastic. The weight and blade thickness are on spot. The sheath is quite sturdy and the included sharpener is a bonus. Not to downplay the Strongman ( which I also like), I would recommend spending the difference for the LMF. The difference in the two is well worth the price. I'm purchasing a second LMF II to replace the Strongman in my other vehicle. Furthermore, I also own SOG. I only buy Gerber knives now. Enough said about that. Only thing that I'd like to see is a "custom" option on the LMF II. I like a small unique feature option. Hope this helps!!

I swear by this knife! I carried it in Iraq and Afghanistan and used it daily. As an Infantryman I needed a good well rounded blade for every day activities. Also when push comes to shove this knife can save your life. It definitely saved mine. Thanks Gerber

I used it a lot in the mountains of minas gerais in Brazil, where it fell from a height of 300 m, and broke only a small tip of the knife. assumed the great humidity and heat of the region. a knife worthy of those who will need to survive in extreme places.

I have found this particular knife to be perfectly suited for Jumpmaster duties and Airborne Operations in the Army. Specifically when performing the duties of a Safety, because you are required to wear a leg knife. The LMF II Infantry system is perfect because of its design and configuration. The webbing has rubber stitching in it that grabs onto your uniform and boots which keeps it stable on your leg. It seems fitting because the knife was designed to get Aircrews out of downed aircraft.

I recently got this knife I think I got a different version it came with a strap cutter. I love it so far it eats tree branches and the sheath is a tight fit which is great.

Battle Tested

Had to take the time to send a good review in for this knife. Took it for the first time into Marjah, Afghanistan in 2011(Look it up). From everything to opening MRE's to breaching small doors, this knife held up great! The sheath was great for different attachment locations as I started it on the drop leg, to a belt and finally to upside down on my flak. Youre money will be well spent! Mine is still on my flak to this day.

If I was in the military and was supplied this knife as a survival tool, I would email a family member to send me an Ontario Blackbird ASAP. The 420 HC steel is barely adequate for an EDC pocket knife and is a very common steel in lower priced casual-use knives from other makers. It really is a lower grade steel that can only be hardened to RC55. It is a tough steel but isn't very hard and has low wear resistance. And with no full tang and a molded plastic handle, you might as well buy a Mora Companion made with better Swedish steel for $20.

LMF

I like this knife, its great sturdy and even though it's a little too Rambo for my taste it is good for what it is meant to be used for. As for the tang not being a full tang, this goes to MICHAEL, it is intended that way for when you have t do some "Tactical" electrical work, and not get electrocuted. Thus they say its insulated.
