Cuts through a 1" branch when I swing it

Love this knife . I use it likely in a more rugged manner than most and it's made for it. If you're looking to make peanut butter sandwiches and occasionally go for walks in the woods near your house, this isn't the knife for you.

The yellow writings the loudest part of the blade!

Beautiful piece with nice heft and balance. Too bad they ruined that sexy matte finish with the big yellow writing on both sides of the blade. Subtlety is underrated.

Strongarm blade

I really like this knife my buddy just bought the coyote ! II like how it has the case and leg straps the LMF II I'm glade and appreciate how they added the 3 holes for tether I tied about 10 feet of string rope in case of a emergency, hopefully they add some sort of upgrade option with the blade and or case all in all !! Highly recommend tactical & survival

Mr.

I have been carrying my LMF for about 15 years in the bush. It's a beast. It gets used for everything. I quit carrying a hatchet about 5 years ago, split most of my scavenged wood with my knife. It hasn't replaced my saw yet, though. Added a leather front piece to the case with a cut out for the sharpener, that allows me to carry a fire striker, small tube with tinder and a whistle. I have used it as a tool for years and it has held up well. The handle has a few Knicks in the rubber and the black is coming off a bit after pounding hundreds of tent pegs over the years, but it's still sharp as hell.

Started off as a good knife

Ok knife. I like the blade, but the handle is enclosed in cheap plastic. Not a strong knife at all. Knife is good for everyday use but don't even think of using using it for hard use. Pretty expensive cardboard cutter. Definitely not a survival knife, won't last. Ka-bar is a much strong knife for survival.

I picked up this and the slightly smaller Prodigy a couple of weeks ago. This is an outstanding blade. So good, in fact, that I've replaced my Ka-Bar BK 10 with this one. Although the BK is an outstanding knife, the Gerber offers better features, a better grip, and a sheath that literally wow'd me. The only thing I would improve is removing the serrations and offering a tanto-style blade. The smaller prodigy offers one in a tanto style, and I really like those, but not a big complaint. Thrilled with my purchase!

You just can't go wrong great knife very versatile. This knife is one of my best it's equal to my BK 2. But a lot more versatile with the features it has such as the non conducive handle and the leg straps perfect tactical situations, hunting and breaching.

One of my most trusted tools

I've gone from backpacking in the mountains to wearing this while free diving (The buttons on the sheath will get rusty if not cleaned and oiled after). Probably Gerber's best product in my opinion.

Great knife had for 5 plus years used it for everything. I like the weight the grip feels really great only downfall was when chopping a tree down the blade be came loose but I'm sure Gerber would of honored the warranty if I were to take it back. Unfortunately on a recent move across the country had my van stolen and they cleaned out all my belongings including my knife, hoping my knife decides to bite the thieves!!(I'm not plotting scenarios in my head or anything though)

US Army and outdoorsman

I bought this upon recommendation in a book by a great soldier. This is a very useful and multi purpose knife, the only drawback is the weight and the too tight of grip on the knife from the sheath. This knife should be more like the Strongarm, retained in the sheath but not so hard to get out. The knife is a little too heavy as well, but that is not a huge deal.

The only tool

Used for camping, hunting and just to train my survival skills. Don't listen all of those bushcrafters who use a knife for batoning. It can be used for it no problem if you don't baton the handle. Why would you button a handle? Also in survival situation ( what this knife is made for) serration is must have. Again - it is not a bushcraft knife. If I have to bring only one tool with me - it would have been this knife or newer version of it strongarm. Thx gerber

Best Knife I own

I have used this as a survival knife for the last few years but last night it proved it's self as a great hunting knife as well. It was used to skin out a Whitetail buck and had not problem splitting the pelvic bone and sternum. It has proved to be the only knife I need for my hunting trips. My buddy has added it to his have to have list as he couldn't believe how easily it split bone.

LMF II

This knife is AWSOME! Because of I dropped it in a lake by our dock. And it sat there for almost a year until our friend has a scuba dive tank and he went looking for it and found it!! No RUST except for a little on the sheath the knife looked the exact same. If I where you guys I would totally buy this knife I was really impressed with gerbers work that they put in this knife. Gerber keep up the good work!

Handle Issues

Not full tang, the pommel on the end is only secured to the handle by cheap plastic and a small bolt. i dropped the butt of the knife on a rock from less than waist height and it cracked off. it would be a quick repair with some two part epoxy but regardless this shouldn't of happened. if the knife was full tang it would be an easy 5 stars as it has fulfilled my needs in all other respects and the sheath is amazing as well

THE KNIFE

This knife goes with me every time I deploy for a SAR mission. It has done everything I have asked it to and more. I have taken it on survival exercises and everyone that doesn't have one wants to check it out.

great bushcrafting knife

I've used Gerber since 1968...both in the service of my country (Vietnam conflict)... and bushcrafting for weeks at a time... your tools and knives have "never failed" on me in any and all extreme conditions... and especially when my life depended on it... it's only the "wanta beez" that always seem to whine to whine... and have never been further than their livingroom and the discovery channel... to using your time tested products... again... thank you for your truly... "LEGENDARY BLADES" respectfully... Charlie

Great

The handle is fragile and is easily destroyed but the blade quality is very good I have done harsh work with it like cutting thick wire and cutting wood with out dulling.

love the blade hate the fragile handle ! the handle needs to be full tang and the rubber overmold is far to fragile. I had to retun the knife. GERBER make the LMF like the Prodogy and the Stongarm and I will buy a couple of them.

Amazing.

Only thing that could be better, is full tang. Other than that it's a great knife, used it against hickory, tin for my roof, and just about everything else. The things with everyone's bad reviews on them breaking is because they have treated the knife like dirt. Don't baby it, but don't intentionally kill it

Love. But need full tang

Love this knife. Great for outdoor kindle making and for being in the bush. Tactical use is this knifes bread n butter, because its not full tang I wouldn't recommend heavy duty thick wood cause I feel it could loosen. But it will still hold up to most activities well. Love Gerber.

Forest lover

Best knife I had in my life. Bought the prodigy at first because it was cheaper but it was too light. The LMF II is heavy to travel with in a bag or on a belt but worth the weight.. More power and better grip, it will cut everything you want. I would recommend it to anyone who know how to use a knife!
