Designed very well

I've owned this knife since 2013, it's by far my favorite knife. I've owned several other high end name brand knives that were far more expensive, including other Gerber knives. I have zero complaints about this piece, the assisted opening has always worked like new. The blade has always held a good edge, i do take a stone to it daily though just because i believe in regular maintenance on any tool. The thin profile handle makes it very comfortable to carry to the inside or outside of your pocket. I love the plunge lock setup, liner locks always put undo stress on the blade when closed, pushing the blade out of center with the handle. This knife has always had good balance and been straight as an arrow. I would recommend this knife to anyone, but everyone is different. Good luck in your search.

Love this knife

I have had this knife for years, I use it on a regular basis, it stays sharp pretty well, and has never needed tightening, It has always worked flawlessly. Great look and feel.

This is an update on my previous review of this knife. After getting use to it I must upgrade my rating to 4. I have gotten use to its nuances and it works very well for me. I have small hands. To open, I flip the thumb stud like flipping a coin with the tip of my thumb behind the stud and the blade fires out as good as an auto. If you have big meaty sausages for fingers it might not work so well. Trying to flip it with the thumb stud does not work that great. Blade takes a great edge, but they could have used a harder steel for better edge holding. The handles could be a little thicker as well. But all in all I like the knife very much. Would love to have an automatic version.

I did not read reveiws for the Contrast AO. This is my third Gerber and received it as a gift. First it is a Gerber and is a well made attractive knife. The hollow ground blade is a plus for me. Although I'm use to reaching for the liner to unlock the blade the plunge lock is nice and works well. As others stated it falls short with the spring assit opening. It does not work well at all. Lacks power and is difficult to get my thumb in position and grip the other side to hold when you push. Not thinning the handles might help with that. I would like to give better rating because it is a well made knife. Gerber dropped the ball on details.

I received mine as a gift, and have more experience with CRKT. I'm very disappointed with the "assist". It's very difficult to open, and after reading other reviews I don't think I will risk my tools on it. Other than that it seems pretty well made so far, but with that major flaw I have to say I probobly would be hesitant with purchasing another Gerber.
