Gerber Myth Fixed Blade Pro Gut Hook Knife

This knife gets it. Years ago I lost my favorite deer knife and I was gifted a replacement from a high quality company. But it was just too big. IMO, a good deer knife must be able to complete the gutting task in the field first and foremost. A longer knife cannot fit deep inside the neck cavity to sever the esophagus and windpipe. This Gerber Myth excels in the task. Razor sharp and has a well designed gut hook. GREAT KNIFE! But, I did have a failure of the sheath retention system within the first year. Rubber keeper split, just like we expect all rubbery parts will do over time. This is the sole fault and its really just the sheath. Luckily Gerber rapidly responds to warranty inquiries and are sending a replacement sheath as I type this. If I were to lose this knife in the field, I would buy an exact replacement immediately. It's perfectly designed for the task at hand. Good grip, design, and functional. hook. I love it

I bought this knife knowing the long line of tools an knives I own by Gerber. When this pro gut hook knife came I was literally blown away by the attention to detail and thoughts behind making this knife with the hunter and outdoorsman in mind. This knife is absolutely flawless and the new strap system is awesome. It ditches the nylon Velcro style to the curb and introduces this new style of retention. Personally this knife goes on every trip with me. Have had it now for a year and it shows no sign if wear minus some sharpening from my deer skinning which it was perfect for. Thank you to the team at Gerber for designing this knife. I have purchased 5 now and gifted them to my hunting group. And I wouldn't give them junk !

Skinned a deer with it back in the ozarks there was blood and guts everywhere and it still had a good grip on the knife! excellent choice for skinners
