Love this unit!! USB (c) connector! I love the fact that you just slide the memory cards in and out. No spring loaded mechanism to worry about!

I just wanted to use a longer USB C cable on the account my desktop has a direct USB C connector on the motherboard. Asked Gnarbox support and boom quick answer was given (yes).
Love the compact design and the fact I can place it near my keyboard!

Kind of a stinker
Will not read Sony Tough SD. Reads xqd fine. Cord could be 2-3” longer. Just hangs from back of iMac. Could also use a led verification light when a card is plugged in.

Great XQD reader.
Fast! Works great... love that it has an SD reader too. Perfect for new laptops that are USB-C only.

I like this product and would buy it again if needed.
I think it’s odd that to insert the XQD card in right-side-up, the Gnarbox name has to be turned down and with the printing on the side (end with the slots) upside down. This has no affect on its operation and the product works well.

The best reader I've ever bought
So far this has been the best quality card reader I've bought in the 7 years I've been shooting professionally. The XQD cards fit in absolutely perfectly with no ambiguous wiggle room. The slot is nice and deep which ensures nothing gets damaged like with my old CF readers. In regards to speed, this thing is a beast. On my Macbook pro using the included usb-c cable, it can import 32gb in just over a minute. That being said, those speeds are only achieved by dragging and dropping files using finder. Lightroom of course slows that down dramatically. My only annoyance is that the cards insert upside down in reference to the logo on the reader, which is saying a lot because that's the only complaint I have for this thing. It's built like a tank and seems to take full advantage of the XQD speeds. I especially love the fact that I can remove the usb-c cable and replace it with a USB-C to USB-A cable so that I can connect it to my older computer.
