Bought this to add a ball head to my Targus Monopod. I liked that it had a quick release feature and that the adjusting knob could be reached easily while attached to the monopod. I have used it once while birding in Puerto Vallarta. It was attached to my Fuji Finepix HS20EXR which weighs in at a little over 2 pounds. Initially the ball head felt firm locking my camera in chosen positons. However after an hour of use the ball head failed to hold my camera in position. Adjusting the set screw made no difference. I am now looking for a new head for my monopod.

I modified a three legged Bog-Pod to accept this mount. It is then used to hold a Lumix FZ150. This combination is very light and portable. Works great, I wouldn't however advise using this mount for a full sized dslr and lens.

If you want light weight and sturdy, this would be great... this didn't work out for me because it's so small compared to the base of my tripod that you won't have easy access to tightening the knob. For something so small, it did feel pretty stable with a D90, battery grip, and 17-55mm 2.8 lens attached to it.

This head features a heavily anodized aluminum ball that is hollowed out in order to cut back on its weight. With a slimmer and lighter structure design the body shell follows the idea, yet offers increased firmness and hardness.
Measuring slightly over 1" (27mm) in diameter, this mini "socket ball" head has been carefully designed and manufactured to precisely position the camera easily and securely and is rated to support up to 7 lbs (3 kg).
