I bought this drive a few weeks ago and so far I am very pleased with the performance. I use it exclusively for video editing, where I need a fast drive and a lot of space, and I have edited anything from DSLR to RED camera projects. The FW and eSata ports are great and all I needed - there are versions of this drive with USB 3.0 and/or thunderbolt ports for those who absolutely need them, but for me this drive was the best bang for the buck.

I have just started using the drive so I can't speak on long term reliability, but I have had g drives in the past and they haven't failed yet. The drive is a little noisy but maybe I'm just used to solid state. Overall very happy with my decision.

Product is great -- I backup all of my photos and videos. It's super easy to install and use. I would have given it 5 stars if I would have been able to plug it into my iMac Thunderbolt connection. Lots of connections available, but not that one. Still a super product!

Was easy to travel with ... needed 2TB of space to bring work to a client . Was dependable ... good value for the price paid at Adorama

I've used G-Tech back-up hard disk drives for about six years and have never had any problems. I've stored approximately 20,000 photos -- RAW files, TIFF files and jpegs without a single failure or lost file. Originally I had the 500GB model, which I outgrew after about four years. I'm currently using the 2TB model and believe it will serve my purposes four the next 8-10 years. The G-Tech units have run very quietly and been extremely reliable.

I love the way this matches with the mac design. I looked at this product both in stores and online, and nothing beat Adorama in pricing. Definitely the best bang for your buck.

I've been using hard drives for many years now and have worked on several of the more popular brands...this is the best and most reliable out there in my opinion, and at a very reasonable price. I use it as a professional photographer to back up images, so I use it literally every single day. It's reliable, compact, and seems very well built; my only concern is at times the cable connection causes the hard drive to disconnect. This seems slightly worse than on my other G drive.

My original external HD (WD) failed in it's fifty sixth month of service. I purchased a G Tech HD with USB 3.0 for its replacement. In that process I learned that MAC's Time Machine application in 10.8 would support multiple drives. Thought it would be a good idea to take advantage of this feature. Started looking for another drive and found the G-Tech 4th Generation at a lower price point. They look and operate identically except for the drive noise when the disk is actuated. Its does not make it a "RMA" by any means. I would still have made the purchase.
