Just received this tripod and out of the box, it's great! Tested the multi-angle center column and it's smoothly flawless! Holds up my Canon Rebel T1i w/battery grip very well. Tripod bag and tool kit come in handy too. A definite "buy it" for those looking for a well built tripod!

I actually bought this tripod after reading a review of the 'sister' tripod on a British magazine, but that tripod is not available in the States. I ended up buying this with the MH-7001 ball head. The combination is a very solid and stable platform for any camera. Since this is my first serious tripod, it took a little getting used to, but now that I have, it is a very solid tripod and lets you get into all sorts of angles and heights. My only 2 slight complaints is that it's not the lightest tripod, so it won't be easy to carry around all afternoon (but for this price range, you can't expect to find a super pro light tripod), and the fact that you have to close the legs in the correct order or they might not tighten all the way down.

To follow up on my review below. HP Marketing Corp (Edwin was my contact) repaired the tripod at no cost. The replacement parts corrected the problem I noted below and I do not expect the center height adjustment bolt to strip again. I would now recommend this tripod to others, assuming the replacement parts on my tripod are now standard to all new 9360's.

Have had this tripod for just over a month and have used it about 6 times. The bolt that tightens the center post height collar just stripped. The handle on this bolt puts tension on it and the aluminum threads couldn't hold up to the steel bolt. Up until this point I liked it.

This was a great investment and I am so glad I went with the choice of purchasing this tripod. It is great for macro photography. This was very essential when I researched on what tripod I would purchase. It does what it says it does and it is definitely sturdy. The weight doesn't bother me (not carbon) because the only place I will be lugging my tripod is between my rooms in my house and maybe outside if I catch a glimpse of something I want to do an extreme close up. Then I get to use the feature that sold me, the ability to get down low and shoot some really cool macro!

I'm really glad that I decided to do the research and purchase this tripod. I was using a tripod which I purchased from the Amvona website some time ago. As it increasingly began to fail me I knew it was time to purchase a new tripod. For example, I was unable to extend its legs fully and therefore I was limited to certain shots. It also began to rust at the joints as my work requires me work on the beach and in coastal waters. Initially, I planned to purchase the Manfrotto 055xprob because of its reputation and because it featured lateral positioning. After more research, I found out that Giottos offered, in my opinion, a better tripod both in terms of features and value. While both the Manfrotto 055xprob and the Giottos 9360 feature lateral positioning, I found the 9360 more versatile as it offers 180 degree multipositioning while the 055xprob does not. Another bonus is that the joints on the 9360 are not exposed. That's a big plus-- I dont have to worry it about foreign materials (sand, dirt, soil, water, etc...) getting into the joints (I often had to clean my other tripod and apply some WD40 to keep the joint movement smooth). I should also add that the tripod folds up rather nicely. It includes several nice additions, including a shoulder strap that clips on, a handsome bag that is padded (convenient for traveling), and a tool pouch for adjusting leg tension, removing the feet, etc... I should also add that Giottos offers a generous warranty. Great tripod. Great value. No regrets!

Solid construction, easy to use. I love the many uses. I can place the lens low to the ground for a worms-eye view or raise it well above my head. The three-way column helps to position the lens into areas like a flower garden when you cannot move the legs to get closer. It is heavy, but the weight does not bother me because the included strap is comfortable.

Might be a little too heavy for when I am camping but still plan on bringing it up when I go. Shouldn't bother me too much. Very solid and comes with tools to tighten the legs and what not. The 3 way head and removable center column have come in handy.

Used the tripod for the first time at the Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens. Worked great. Too heavy to take on long hikes. But if you want a rock solid tripod with good stability then this is a fine choice.
