I have really enjoyed these lights for a number of reasons, but the primary reason is that they offer me such a wide range of creative options (on a relatively comfortable budget). The flexibility of jumping between RGB and Bi-Color lighting opens up a lot of possibilities on projects, especially when paired with a set of batteries to take things 'off-road,' so to speak, or just to open up a needed plug when your location is less flexible than anticipated. (Definitely go for a set of batteries if you can! Or set them aside with a big star as a future purchase. Having the ability to jump between AC and battery power is super convenient on the go.) Something to be aware of... - When dialing in the color temperature in Bi-Color mode, the low and high?3200K and 5600K?will only be using half the LEDs, while the midground of 4400K will use all LEDs. The brightness of the lights will vary because of this, with the middle temperatures putting out the most light. - Navigation on the back panel can be a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of the RIGHT knob operating like a game controller joystick (click it!) it becomes really easy to figure out. Room to grow... - The chance to 'grow the kit' over time by picking up more pieces is a nice selling point. Batteries obviously add mobility. More lights can be added over time and still sync to the previous in 'slave mode.' I have personally really enjoyed the soft box GVM creates for these 1200D panels, and if you have the budget, it is a nice inclusion, especially if you plan on using one of the panels as a key light in interview settings. The diffusion panel built into the lights does a decent job, but a soft box will level you up. It is nothing special, but it fits the light and does what is required. (Admittedly I have often found myself using it without taking off the barn doors because they require a bit of work to take off and I am lazy. It still works!) The stands that come in these kits are more than adequate, and stoutly do the job asked of them. The carry case is a workhorse of similar fashion with space for lights, stands, and cords. I find that the 2-light kit in particular to be a good, manageable size. The case holds its shape well. I personally have not made use of the onboard 'effects' beyond goofing in the studio, but that's not where these lights really shine. I also do not make use of the application that can remotely control the lights, so I cannot comment on the usefulness or ease of use with regards to that aspect, but it is something that is available and would be particularly useful for remotely dialing in colors if that interests you. Perhaps equally important, they also look sharp. Do be mindful when tilting the light that you loosen the side screws as you do so. A good habit to get into and one that will help with their longevity. I've had these lights for a year and a half and they are still in great physical shape! Looking forward to more years of them adding creative flexibility to my life. All in all, a great lighting kit that offers flexibility for experimenting with light in all its colors. These fantastic lights are easy to use with great results. Using the App you can control all three lights (also controllable manually). They can be synced together and the scene modes can get you really high production value. Love my kit. The ability for these to operate on battery is a game changer. Very flexible.
