Does not fit Gitzo Series one Traveler

I was not sure if this would fit on my Gitzo G1220, which is an older generation tripod when I ordered. There is no much info online about G1220. But I figured I would try it , if not I just return it. It turned out it fits perfectly. It's a snap to install and now I can hang my backpack on it. Another bonus is that it has a rubber ring at the end to prevent any scratches when I close the legs. I am very happy.

I'd read somewhere else it would fit; however, the thread diameter is too small.  Too bad, because it looks like a nice part.

Does Not Fit Gitzo GT2545T

Good replacement for my lost original hook.  Although this one is spring loaded, where my original was a stationary hook, it does the job!

Gitzo CS told me this would not be compatible for the Gitzo G2220 column. The part # for that one is listed as D 0703.10 $38. Obviously this G2020 will fit on the referencec tripods Gitzo lists. 

For those who may want to fit this to other non listed Gitzo tripods or other branded tripods you'll have to verify this first:

3/8-16 thread

The clearance depth needed to fit flush with the bottom of column is about 6mm. If your column has threrading that begins at the very bottom, this will not fit approproately. 

Column diameter is in the neighborhood of 30mm for aesthetics. 

The part is well amde and finished evenly. Thread engagement is fairly loose so using a thread locking agent will prevent it from unscrewing and becoming lost.

For $15, I was very pleased. It works as necessary. :)

Works fine for a G 2220 column

Lost and FOund

It's important to check this center column hook regularly to ensure that it is screwed in completely. Mine came loose and I had to replace it.

I had lost this part on my Gitzo 2020 explorer tripod. When i bought a second tripod for travel, the Davis & Sanford Traverse Tripod(Mfr# TRAVERSEB8) I learned this part fit both.

Its great to have to further steady the tripod by hanging something heavy (like my camera bag) from the hook.
I love both of these tripods by the way.

FITS more than one tripod

This item will not fit Gitzo 2530 or 2531 tripods. The 28mm diameter is much smaller than the inside diameter of the center console threads. Manfrotto says this part is for earlier tripods. For the 2530 you need part #D0703.05
If it fit I would have given 5 stars.
