Light and Strong Gitzo Traveler

I purchased the Gitzo GT1545T Traveler Series 1 Carbon Fiber Tripod and GH1382TQD Ball Head because I am using a tripod more than I used to. I use it for control over ISO in low light, for sharper landscapes and for focus stacking. I take it when I fly or shoot in a crowd. I was not using my aluminum travel tripod faithfully so I decided to replace it with the carbon fiber Gitzo, because it is lighter, sturdier, and has an excellent ball head. The Arca Swiss style ball head is easy to use and works with all my plates and brackets. Now I carry the Gitzo Traveler and an extra lens in a day pack, with no back pain. I also own the Gitzo GT4533LSUS full size tripod. Both Gitzo tripods provide world class design and craftmanship.

Poorly designed and made Tripod

I too had this Tripod for just a few weeks when the pan knob fell off during a shoot, as well as one of the rubber feet. Note: it says rubber feet are replaceable. This is not true; one is stationary the others easily screw off (and apparently fall off). Gitzo’s customer service was horrible. I emailed several times with no response. I would return this if I could, first and last time I purchase a Gitzo product.

Would not recommen

I purchased this tripod in early July 2017 to use on a trip scheduled for October 2017. I used the tripod 5 or 6 times to get comfortable with its controls. In unlocking the pan knob in normal use the rubber ring snapped and popped off. I contacted Gitzo and the rubber ring replacement, which is not an in stock item would cost me ($) plus another ($) for shipping. Surely you jest. A tripod that is three months old, and treated very well, has parts that fail and they are not covered under warranty. I have multiple other tripods, RRS and Gitzo and have never had this happen with years of use on any of them. I'll never purchase another Gitzo product if this is the kind of quality and service I can expect from a $ tripod/head combination. Buyer beware!

GT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod
The Gitzo GT2545T Series 2 Traveler carbon fiber tripod is the strongest professional, 4-section travel support with an 180deg. leg folding system pioneered by Gitzo, which enables its legs to reverse-fold around the center column and an optional ball head, allowing it to fold down to 44.5cm. It is recommended for use with 200mm lenses (300mm maximum). With its leg angles spread and the included short center column inserted, the tripod goes lower for low-angle or macro shots.

This tripod has the largest tube diameters in the Traveler range. It features Carbon eXact legs for superior strength and stiffness and the "Traveler G-lock" - a travel-size version of Gitzo's G-lock, specifically designed to ensure security in more compact tripods. Its specially-designed rubber feet are easily interchangeable with Gitzo's optional feet (e.g. spikes, large feet). It comes with its own shoulder strap for comfortable carrying. It is the ideal tripod for professional photographers who use longer lenses or require the highest stability on the move.

Gitzo's medium-sized professional tripod head Despite its slim design, it is packed with features, including a friction control knob located inside the ball locking knob for precise adjustment. It has a 360deg. independent panning lock and a ball-movement control lock. It provides uncompromising ball smoothness and is constructed with high-quality, high-resistance steel and aluminum components. The supplied quick-release plate is kept locked with a screw-knob and a bubble level helps photographers keep a straight horizon.

The GH1382QD is a perfectly balanced, versatile tripod head engineered to ensure the ultimate smoothness and precision of movement and secure locking. The Gitzo head is designed to accommodate other plates with similar dimensions. On the head base there is a removable safety pin that acts as a safety catch and helps prevent the plate from sliding out. If this safety pin blocks the mounting of other brand plates or prevents them from sliding out simply remove the safety pin with the key provided.
