Would recommend!
Used this Gitzo backpacking. I found it to be light and compact but sturdy even in gusty peak conditions.

Excellent lightweight pod for trekking
This is an excellent tripod for anyone who needs to do a lot of mountain trekking to find a great landscape shot. Combined with the GH1780QR, its about as light weight as you can get without loosing too much stability. Regarding stability and construction, this is definitely a well built tripod, and is very easy to haul around all day. Its extremely lightweight construction, however, causes the pod to be a little unstable. Its better on uneven rocky ground than smooth level surfaces. With landscapes, this isn't a huge problem, as you can take your time setting a shot. When it comes to wildlife & birds, a more stable tripod would likely be better, something in the Series 2 range.
