Anne M : Where is this tripod made?
NANCY L : Is this tripod good for heavier lenses? I have a 70-200,300, 100-400.MARK M : This would be more than sufficient. I use this combined with the Vanguard KH-200 Pistol Grip (850g) and is more than adequate for me - currently Nikon Df with largest lens being the 70-300 (750g) and SB-700 (350g). Also, I use this a lot for travel photography and always have this as part of my carry on luggage with the pistol grip attached - so far no complaints from airlines/carriers. I would be confident in using this for much larger lenses too.EMERSON B : This is my favorite tripod, and I use it with a Hasselblad system (which as you know is heavy). Even with my 350 FE f/4 lens the tripod is stable. I highly recommend the BH-55 ball head by Really Right Stuff to tie everything together. Also, be sure to put thread lock (the blue version) on each of the removable feet or the feet will unthread themselves and you will need to purchase replacement feet (about $70 for a set of three). Hope this helps.ALEX V : I returned that tripod so I cannot commentBARRY L : I have used it with my D610 with a 300 lens and it supports it just fine the Tri pod has a hook underneath that I hooked my bag to for stability the extra weight helps I guess you could use whatever you have handy for added weight . Very nice tri pod. I aso use it with a Gitzo head. I really love mine.AARON M : Those lenses are probably right on the edge of what I'd suggest for this tripod, but it would of course depend on what you're shooting. I think the 3 series might be better suited to the task, but there's obviously a weight tradeoff.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?WENDELL S : Christmas gift. love it. Strong & solid. Still use it around town carrying on my pack.

Great Tripod!

I love this tripod. I specifically selected this tripod because of my interest in macro-photography. I wanted the horizontal arm option. The Manfrotto I looked at only allowed for vertical or horizontal, while the Gitzo allowed for any angle. It's a bit more flexible. Also it's a bit heavier than I expected but, very stable. I debated the 4-section vs 3-section model. I was leaning toward the 4-section because it folds smaller. However, it was still too long for my carry-on luggage. So I went with the 3-section, being only slightly longer (folded) and cheaper. I purchased it with the "Gitzo GH3750QR Series 3 Magnesium Off Center Ball Head with Quick Release - Supports 17.64 lbs"

Excellent Tripod

I have several tripods. The Gitzo is, by far, the very best. It's expensive but worth the cost.

Rock steady tripod

Great tripod legs. Rock steady but a little bit of a learning curve to get use to the set up. I was use to just pulling the legs out on all of my other tripod that I have had but this one you have to release a lever to move the legs in any direction. Now that I am use to it, its fantastic.

Gitzo GT2531Ex Explorer is another of the tripods for special applications; a versatile support that opens up new shooting perspectives. Thanks to its unconventional design, the legs can be set at any angle and moved independently while the center column tilts and rotates freely to any position.

The Explorer unleashes its potential when used with a Gitzo off-center ball head, a combination that makes it the ideal tripod for creative photographers, looking for unconventional shots: close to ground, upside down or in tight or awkward spaces. Ideal applications are outdoor macro and nature photography, still life and architectural.
