HUITANG Z : Does the unit have level bubble on top? Thanks!MICHAEL Z : Sorry to say that it does not have a level.MICHAEL S : No.CHARLES S : No, only on the ball head. I have an old Bogen tripod that weighs quite a bit, but it does have three levels on it. I'd suggest buying a flash shoe mounted level if you're not looking for a ball head at the moment. I hope this helps.DAVID D : No it does not have a bubble level. My ball head does. But, I do not use it vey often. I normally level to the horizon via the viewfinder.SCOTT M : This tripod does not have a level bubble on the top. But since I use my tripod with a good ball head for stills, night and astrophotography, I find a level is not needed since I can level the camera easily with just the ball head, which I can pan with as well. Will add - this is a GREAT tripod which I've taken on many trips. I fits in my carry-on bag, is light and steady as a rock. You won't regret buying one!TOM M : No it does not. But it's an excellent tripod, and makes a very stable platform.HUITANG Z : Thanks, Michael!HUITANG Z : Thanks, Joseph!JOE V : I took a look at mine and didn't see one.MICHAEL D : No, it does not.HUITANG Z : Thanks, Frances!HUITANG Z : Thanks for the answer.REX W : Nope, no spirit level (bubble) on it. FRANCES Z : No. Level bubble normally comes with the head not the tripod.
Shopper : does it come with the box and bag? ThanksDAVID D : The tripod comes in a box and includes a fabric bag. I also purchased a padded Adorama bag to provide protection. I will mention that the shortest padded bag was a bit long. YUNYAN S : with box, no bagSCOTT M : Sorry, came in a cardboard box - no bag. Hasn't been a problem for me. LINDA M : this is the same tripod i bought and it came with a very soft bag almost paper like, so i would sugest to buy a padded bag.MICHAEL D : Hello, I received mine in the Gitzo box with a very light material bag. ENRIQUE R : Dear Friend, I bought this product on January 5, unfortunately comes with a fine bag of some kind of fabric, this bag is not good for transport, the black box is very nice with Gitzo in silver letters, I find very elegant .. I hope to serve you this answer, Greetings Enrique.LYLE W : It comes with a bag with drawstring for carrying but not for protection. No box is included.MICHAEL S : Mine came in a Gitzo-branded black box (inside the shipping box) and included a low-quality bag.RYAN M : Yes it comes in a box and bag.

You will not regret buying this tripod !

I needed a tripod that was light enough to take into the field, small enough to pack in carry-on luggage, dependable, strong, and very stable. The Gitzo GT3541 fulfills these requirements and I use it mainly for time lapse, macro-, night-, and astrophotography where stability is critical for sharp pictures. This tripod is solid but still light thanks to the carbon fiber construction. With 4 sectioned legs, it will easily fit in a carry-on bag for air travel with a ball head still attached. From compacted to fully extended takes about 20-30 seconds, and there is no slippage or "wobble" once sections are hand tightened with only a 1/4 to 1/2-turn. The ability to widen the stance of the tripod and invert the center post to mount the camera underneath for low-to-ground macro are both pluses. The center post can also be extended if additional height is needed, though with full extension a small amount of stability is lost, but this wasn't unreasonable. It cleans up easily and after 1 1/2 years of frequent use it still looks and performs as if it were brand new. If you're looking at the price and having second thoughts, - let me save you some indecision here. I read the review articles by the pros, looked for sales, read white papers on carbon fiber vs aluminum vs. wood, etc, ad infinitum. I had spent months looking for the unicorn of tripods - the one that's light weight, easily portable, rock solid, reliable, and really inexpensive....but it doesn't exist, because quality costs money and the cheap tripods don't give you the quality. This tripod is a high quality piece of equipment that once you use it and realize it will serve you for years to come, you won't regret it.

Worth the premium price, but...

I orginally purchased an Induro and wanted to consider Induro's next heavier model for my heavier load kit. An experienced photographer recommended that I consider the Gitzo over the Induro mainly because it has better weather sealing. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase and believe it fits the needs very well; however, I would still like to leave some comments on its construction versus Induro. Non-rotating legs: Both Induro and Gitzo indicate non-rotating legs. Both lived up to this claim; however, I noticed that when the Gitzo leg was fully extended, I was able to rotate it on some occasions. Setup/Breakdown time: Induro's only requires a quarter twist to lock and unlock; Gitzo required a bit more twisting and didn't feel as 'definite' as Induro's. Setup and breakdown time seemed much faster with Induro. Overall feel: Induro was smooth in both feel and operation; Gitzo's operation felt a little clunky, but not problematic. Conclusion: Both are great for their load to weight performance. I give Induro the edge for overall value, but if one needs better weather-sealing, I suppose you should definitely consider the Gitzo...but I haven't personally tested this aspect.

Solid tripod

Nice solid tripod - my RRS BH-55 ballhead fits perfectly on it. It folds relatively small. The only thing that should have been included was a custom fitted tripod bag.

The Gitzo GT3541 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs uses advanced "Carbon 6X" carbon fiber material for its leg construction. This improved tubing is stronger than its 12 layer predecessor. Although the tubing is lighter, it still offers the same resistance to vibration. Carbon "6X" is manufactured using a complex, 3-D process weaving 6 layers of carbon fiber into smooth, solid constructed tubes.

The GT3541 is ideal for use with professional equipment, medium format cameras and SLRs with a 300mm lens, up to 400mm maximum. It offers an excellent load capacity rating of 39.6 lbs (18kg) and good torsional rigidity.
