Very sturdy and able to hold my camera and lens perfectly still! It's Just what The Doctor Ordered!

Great tripod! Love how tall it is. I also recommend the Gitzo leveling base as well. This thing is rock solid! This was a HUGE upgrade for me.

My first Gitzmo tripod that I ordered was defective. One leg kept coming out of socket completely and very difficult to get back in. I was not happy with a very expensive tripod that was not working well. Adorama accepted the return without any issues. The next issue was that they had no other replacements for the defective tripod. I did have to wait several weeks for a new one. The new was eventually sent and it works great. I love the variable leg positions and the quality of the construction.

I have owned a number of tripods, including a fluid ball head. I have never seen or felt a tripod like this one. It is big and strong, yet amazingly light. Most important, the pan and tilt motions are incredibly smooth. The knobs are big and simple to use. Everything about this tripod is ergonomic perfection. I couldn't be happier.

Gitzo is the best tripod available. The XLS cost more but the extra height is critical for landscape.

This an unbelievably awesome tripod! You really just have to feel it to appreciate the engineering that has gone into it’s design. This is not just a tripod, it’s a work of art unto itself. This is the most stable, well designed and yet light enough to be useable tripod I’ve ever seen. The attention to detail that Gitzo put into this thing is evident. The quality leaps out at the user, and I don’t have to think twice about putting a heavy piece of glass on my gimbal head with my full frame body hanging off of it. Because none of it is going to move until I say so. And when I do position it, the movement is smooth and precise. I had no idea that it would work so well. If this is within your budget, just do it. It’s one of the best investments I ever made.

This is a really well-built and designed tripod, offering rock solid stability consistent with Gitzo's stellar reputation. The Systematic series models come with no central column and offer a wide, stable platform. I prefer that design, central columns add weight and detract from stability. This is a really large tripod. I am 6-3 and can comfortably use this tripod at eye height with only three of the four leg sections extended. Unless you are fixated on weight and collapsed size, there is never a penalty for having an oversize tripod. You can always shorten the legs and you will be even more stable. The extra reserve length will help when working on sloped ground or shooting upwards. In short this is a tripod that can be used effectively almost anywhere. It may be slightly heavier than shorter tripods, and its collapsed length is a bit longer than others. But it is carbon fiber and the slight added weight and size is not that big a deal to me. If you try to carry this tripod with the legs extended but folded in, the legs tend to go inside each other, making them a bit more unwieldy. If you do a lot of that, I would consider using a Velcro wrap to secure the legs.

Buying a tripod is such a struggle especially as a beginner. I read tons of articles, reviews, etc. on how to buy a tripod and what to look for. I was purchasing this to be used with a Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens and a Wimberley Sidemount head. It was between this and a cheaper brand and I am very glad I went with this. I wasn't sure on the height need and didn't want to drop this kind of cash without having the right height so I opted for this height since it was the same price as a lesser height Gitzo. I am very pleased. The height is way more than I need (I am 6' tall) but I feel that it gives me the flexibility of using it in different situations or scenarios. Since I am new at this I didn't want to have to buy multiple tripods. The construction is rock solid and it is made in Italy for anyone wondering. It does come in a handless bag with a cinch cord so at least there is some sort of case with it though it is cheap. I have now used this for 1000's of pictures and am very pleased. I also have no regrets and highly recommend this tripod.

Perfect landscape tripod, I'm 6'5" and this tripod extends well over my head, great for limiting too much foreground with wide angle lens.
