Questions & Answers

Henry L : Hello, I bought the HAAMKENG600 shotgun mic yesterday. But when I connect it on a recorder, I hear these weird noises whenever I slightly move the mic ( even when it's connected on a pole). Is it normal or not? Or is it too sensitive...??TIMOTHY P : Hi, Handling noise is a problem with all microphones. Ask any experienced boom operator! Use the low-cut filter to eliminate rumble. If there is air passing over the diaphragm, put the wind muff in place. Proper handling technique is paramount! Both the boom and the mic shaft have a resonant frequency, and taps or brushes will cause both to vibrate and transmit the sound to the diaphragm. Use a shock mount on the mic with low-vibration rubber contact surface. Use a good quality boom that does have weak extension joints that flex and make noise. Do not directly handle the mic. Do not let the boom rub against any part of your body. Do not unnecessarily lift or move your hands along the boom pole. There is a lot to learn and practice for proper technique. Try Googling Anthony Q. Artis and read his advice or watch his videos. Disclaimer: I am not Anthony, I do not represent him and this is not a paid endorsement.ANDREW R : For tech support or troubleshooting I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer.
Christian C : Hi, I would like to know if the shock mount can be attached to a boom pole? Thank you.ANDREW R : As long as your boom has a 1/4"-20 mount.
B. M : What is the equivalent noise level? For example: 15 dB (A) Thx.ANDREW R : Equivalent noise level is not specified. Mic has a specified signal to noise ratio of "80dB or more".

Not the greatest.

I suspected it would not be the best, but I took a chance.

Pretty good...

Feels like a quality product. Solid, metallic construction. Audio doesn't have noticeable hiss. Haven't tested enough yet to really say how pickup (and rejection) is, but looks hopeful.

Good Mic

A bit on the bulky side when mounted on the camera with a 'dead cat' on while shooting with a wide angle lens.

Wanted to like this, but couldn't

I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this mic was probably the worst purchase I have made this year. I got it on a deal, and even at that price, I was not impressed. The worst part about it, is when you switch on the low cut, it actually sounds like it's boosting the high frequencies, in an annoying way.
