Does a good job for a lower priced mic. I got it in a bundle, and normally use other mics, but this one does work better than built in.

I bought a Nikon 5600 and the mic quality is about the same as this mic, but came in good packaging! Would recommend for someone with a cheaper setup or a setup with a older camera with a bad mic in it!

Product is good for hobbyist and beginners. However, since I just received recently and have not had in depth test or usage time yet and from extended usage, it may turn out be as good as pro unit. Design and construction looks very good. From very short exposure to the product, its definitely worth the money without a doubt.

Not a professional mic, but much better than your DSLR built-in mic. Small enough the carry around in your camera bag to always have handy.

A handy carry-all improvement over built in mics for on the spot recording, but need better for serious shoots.

The condenser mic is ok, but you won't get professional sound quality out of it compared to, say, the boom mics we use in the studio. Again, it might be useful on location, but we use wireless lav mics for most of those shoots.

The ambient sounds from the sides and rear of this supposedly "Directional" microphone were barely less audible than those . recorded by the Omnidirectional built-in microphone on my camera, a Canon SX60.

This is a exceptionally well made mic. The footprint is small and easily amenable to use with an video light attached to the shoe on my camera. Definitely noticed the improved sound quality, crisp quality of sound on playback. For value and good quality, I recommend this.

If you have a camera without a built in microphone, and want the sound of a built in microphone.... Then this baby is for you. If you want quality sound better than that of a built in microphone look elsewhere.

i saw responses in the questions sections stating this will work with a Canon T5, that is not true, i read a review and looked at answered questions instead of doing my research shame on me , i own a T5 and it comes with a 2.5mm jack not 3.5mm , other than that i rate it 4 stars it looks way smaller than i expected.

I have only tried it once. I used the foam windscreen and that worked well, but only if there was no wind. Sound was clear, and much better than the built in mics on the camera itself. But when I shot in a place with lots of wind, it picked up the wind noise more than the dialogue, so that did not work. I don't know if the dead kitten windscreen would have helped. I will try it another time, but for the money, and the improvement on sound quality, and for regular use, it was a good purchase and I'm happy with it, therefore, I recommend it.

This microphone didn't cost me an arm but it did help in having an extra on board external microphone to record from away.

This is not a high-quality, truly-directional microphone, but for $20 it is a major upgrade over most cameras' built-in microphones. The bundled accessories are rather modest, especially the deadcat windshield appears to be quite the overkill for such a tiny microphone, but it works. Highly recommended to keep in your DSL camera bag for impromptu video recordings, but for any serious videography, I would suggest a high-quality microphone.
