Questions & Answers

Martin H : Greetings! Will the Hakuba bag hold a 32 " tripod?BRIAN F : No. The inside of the bag measures 27" exactly.MICHAEL W : Hi, You may have your answer already, but.... I measured my tripod and my Hakuba case. The advertised length of 27 inches is pretty accurate. You would not be able to get 32 inches into this model. Having said that, it handily fits my pretty large Vanguard tripod with head. Cheers, MWJASON D : I doubt this will hold a 32" tripod. I keep a Gitxo 3541T (21" or so) and RRS BH40 attached (3") and it fits pretty tight. It is a great sturdy bag though. take care.BRUNO D : No...Case is only 27 inches long. Unless you can perform magic !!KAIFU H : No, it's too small for 32".STEVEN O : Hi, Martin… The Hakuba tripod case comfortably holds my Manfrotto 190XB tripod with attached ballhead. The whole assembly is 26 1/2" long. There is approximately 3/4" to spare. So I would say it's a perfect fit. I also put my Manfrotto 680B monopod w/attached tilt swivel in my case along with my tripod. I do wrap the monopod in a large golf towel to prevent scratching. It's been a great bag and has served me well. Hope this information helps.SCOTT K : does the tripod fold down to less than 27 inches? This is the length of the bagTIFFANY M : Think about your question. If the case is 27" long and your tripod, collapsed is 32" does 32" fit into 27". Get the Hakuba large case, the large case is 33" long. I've owned both and better to a bit more length as opposed to trying to squeeze the extra inches in and ruining what is otherwise a very good case.
Shopper : Will fit my manfrotto with head attached? Length is just over 25". A couple reviewers mentioned it being roomy around the legs -- is that much of an issue? EG do i need to put in more padding?GARY F : Yes, if your tripod with head is 25" it should fit OK. I don't see why the case being a little loose around the legs would be a problem. I use mine with Benro A0580 legs with a Manfrotto joystick head, and it's very happy in this case.Edward E : It will depend upon which head you use. I bought a far larger head than I needed and I have to remove the head when I use the bag. However, the bag is great. I use it for my tripod, oversized head, monopod with a small head and a variety of other objects. It is well built and I am glad I bought it.JAMES D : You should be fine, I find that the padding is all I need with plenty of room around the legs. I use this to carry my tripod in my car, back seat and trunk. This is a fine bag, I own two tripod sizes and the light stand size. They work for me.DALE S : The case seems roomy and well made, especially for the price. I have a Gitzo Series 3 with Arca ball head and it barely fits lengthwise. Not much room inside for other gear, but I don't plan on putting anything else inside, just my tripod with head attached. It seems well padded in all directions. Spending what I did on gear I hesitated to buy such an inexpensive case. Seems like a decent case though. I would recommend this case as long as you are not wanting to put more than a tripod with head in it. If your head is other than a ball head, this bag might be too small.
Shopper : how strong is the sholder strap?BRUNO D : This is a quality built tripod bag. The bag and shoulder strap are heavy-duty material built to carry a heavier professional tripod. I carry a Manfrotto 3021Pro tripod in mine with a 3047 - three way head on it. It has been shlepped to Europe several times and up in the Rockies over the last 1 1/2 years and still looks good. It is comfortable to carry with room for other items. I highly recommend this case.JEAN M : It stood up to traveling on airplanes, long lines at immigration and customs without any problems. Very satisfied with this case!STEVEN O : The strap is a modest strap. Although, I wouldn't consider it heavy duty; it is certainly manufactured to a spec that matches the projected contents of the bag. Fyi, I currently carry a Manfrotto tripod as well as Manfrotto monopod with both units wrapped in towels to protect them from banging around. The strap will handle this modest weight easily. Btw, the hardware is excellent – the connectors and the adjustment slide. Hope this helps.Pamela M : It seems fairly sturdy. The case holds two tripods if necessary.

Love it, Tough tough and tough

Other than my Pelican case, this is the next toughest gear case I own, went with it after seeing my local rental company use it, figured if it's good enough for a rental torture, it's good enough for me. Zippers are strong, bag material is thick and durable

Great tripod bag

Bag is very well padded. I love the pockets on the outside, perfect for pocket wizards and small cables. There is also buckles in the inside of the bag to keep your tripods in place.

Nice Case

I bought this case to transport a 130mm f/7 refractor telescope. The case is a perfect fit and seems to be well made. It certainly holds the 20 lb. telescope with ease.

great bag for the price

This is a really nice bag for ($). I've only taken it out on one gig but it feels sturdy, holds a lot of stuff, good padding. I like the extra pocket on the front that you can store some small brackets or whatever in and the shoulder strap makes it easy to carry.

Fits large video tripods

Fits my Manfrotto 503HDV fluid head on 351MVB tripod legs with a little room to spare! Much cheaper than the Manfrotto case.

Solid as a Rock

This is a tough bag. Carrying a heavy wooden Berlebach slung over my shoulder got to be too much for me, so I bought on spec this case. It suits me perfectly. Years have passed, yet it has resisted all damage.

This case holds a bunch of stands and gear. It is really well made. Most importantly, it's long enough to fit my Manfrotto stands.

Feels solid!!

Just received the product today as my old bags bit the dust. This thing feels solid! great material, handles feel sturdy, and I really like the hard plastic on the bottom. I just packed it with: C stand column and boom arm. 4 manfrotto stacker stands, 3x4 softbox, 7ft parabolic umbrella, and 28" Westcott apollo. I'll definitely be getting the smaller version soon as well!! :D

Great bag for tripods

This bag works perfect for my gitzo 3 series tripod with the RRS BH40 ball head still attached (just barely). It is well padded and seems like it will hold up well.

Best lightstand/tripod bag

Spacious and of a very high quality, I was able to declutter my trunk of several bags housing 3 lightstands and tripod. The materials are solid and there are no issues with the heavy duty seams and zippers. The padding is light but enough to prevent any dings and scratches from accidental bumps into things. The only thing lacking is the strap system they have in the bag. There are tension lock straps on the bottom of the bag to help keep things from shifting around while being carried upright. The idea is great but the execution is a bit lacking. When loading gear into the bag, you have to pass them each through the preset loops and then tighten in the cramped space once your gear is in. They would benefit greatly with velcro straps in not only how quickly you'd be able to access and pack away your gear, but in how tightly and easily you'd be able to secure everything inside. Inconvenience aside, this bag is highly recommended.

De-Cluttered My Car

I'm sure like most starting photographers, I've got light stands, tripods, accessories ... you name it, not only do I have it, but it has been sitting loose in the back of my car for quite some time. In between photo shoots, I would just leave it there, because it would take three or four trips to haul it back into my house. And when I had a job, it would take three or four more trips to load up the car. I bought two of these Hakuba bags and everything just fit into both. Now I can take one trip from the car to the client and one trip from the car to the house. Easy peazey. The quality of the fabric is very heavy duty and while I don't plan to fly with these bags, for local trips to a client's location, these fit the bill perfectly.

Large tripod case

This fits my full size carbon fiber tripod with a leveling head and a ball head attached with room to spare. It seems to be sturdy but I haven't taken a trip with it yet.

AWESOME PURCHASE!!!I

I needed this bag to transport my lightstands 45" long from the U.S. to India. They are great for travel because they are padded and offer extra protection. I was able to check the bag in along with my other luggage and the airline accepted it without making a fuss. What's great is that it holds a LOT OF STUFF, is lightweight and exactly what I was looking for. A great buy.

Great value.

This is a great bag. I'd never heard of Hakuba, but it seemed to get good reviews online, and now I can see why. You can't beat it for the price. Best bag for a strobist kit. I carry 2 Manfrotto 1051 stands and 2 Paul C Buff PLMs. The bag is padded. The shoulder strap is very nice to use. I've gone through a couple other bags like this (Manfrotto and Tenba, both of which I plan to sell), but this one is much better. Great value!!

Large enough for a second tripod

This bag is large enough to carry two tripods or in my case a tripod and a monopod. The pocket is great for small attachments or accessories.

Well done.

Very well made bag for the price. Not a lot of extra room but fits my Gitzo 3 series tripod with Arca ball head. Extra storage on the outside does come in handy too. Haven't tested the bag in the field yet.

pretty good, you get what you pay for

Nice roomy bag with decent padding. It can hold a lot of stands, reflectors, softboxes, umbrellas, etc. However, I would say that overpacking it is a bad idea. One of mine developed a rip in the fabric after about a year of heavy use. The zipper is holding up fine. But, I don't think this is very good performance. However, I do really like the bag overall. It would likely be covered under warranty but it looks like it's an easy repair and I'm not going to bother with warranty. I also use some Lightware bags that are often very overpacked and they have never ripped after a lot of use. The Hakuba needs more care so you have to balance the cost savings with the limited usability.

I was very well pleased with this purchase. I measured my tripod and compared it to the case's measurements. My tripod fits perfectly. Not to big fits just right.

Great Bass Clarinet Stand case

Sax, bassoon and bass clarinet stands are as klutsy as tripods to carry around and, like photographers, musicians have to carry a lot of gear. I have searched for a sturdy instrument stand case. The adverized Hakuba 100 measurements looked just right for my Hercules bass clarinet stand and on delivery the case was a very good fit. One can also include a folded music stand and the side pocket easily accomodates added clarinet and flute pegs or other accessories. It looks very well made from sturdy materials. Since the bag comes in four sizes, I have recommended it to other musicians.

Great bag

Better than expected

This is a perfect travel bag for tripods. Unzips across the length for easy tripod access. Has a convenient outside pocket. Great strap so that you can carry over your shoulder. The padding protects. Probably wouldn't trust it to airline cargo guys, but it is enough for every day travel and use. Good quality - better than I expected!
