The Heil HDK-7 drum mic kit includes everything you will need to record all drums & cymbals, and it also is an incredible collection of mics to best capture live drum performances. Given the heart of any drum kit is the kick drum, your heart will beat strong & true through the PR 48. The PR 48 has a very large 1.5" diaphragm suspended in a vulcanized rubber mounting to eliminate unwanted vibrations.

You will hear the beater like never before and you'll soon realize this is the true sound of your kick drum; the way it should sound. Great SPL protection, plus superior side & rear noise rejection keeps the natural drum sound intact, with frequencies dropping off at 8.5k Hz to further assure the elimination of unwanted internal drum ringing. The HDK-7 includes [two] award winning PR 22's for flawless snare or tom mic'ing, and also [two] PR 28's for tom, snare, djembes, congas and more.

There are also [two] PR 30B's to capture cymbals, and/or for overhead mic'ing. - PR 22 Handheld Microphone -
The HEIL PR 22 microphone is a revolutionary dynamic cardioid microphone incorporating a large (1.125") diaphragm, patent-pending ISO BAND isolation mounting that offers greater articulation throughout its entire wide, flat, frequency range with very low handling noise. Additionally, noise directed at the rear of the mic is virtually eliminated through a combination of special porting & phasing plug design. This is a sound professional's dream, come true.

- PR 28 Drum Microphone -
The Heil PR 28 microphone is made specifically for toms, and snare drums along with other percussion instruments like bongos, conga, timbale, djembes and more. However, the PR 28 is suitable for other uses as well where a wide frequency range and immaculate isolation is desired.

Heil Sound engineered the PR 28 with a dual suspension dynamic element to eliminate unwanted vibrations and noise, even in the most extreme settings; like when placed above or beneath drums with close proximity monitors, bass cabinets and other sound sources. In fact, the PR 28 dutifully isolates the target drum from neighboring drums just inches away, with precision and ease.

The PR 28 has the ability to withstand very high SPL's, meaning it can bring out the best in even the hardest hitting drummers without overload, or bleed-through. When coupled with the optional (patent-pending) HH-1 Mount, it will easily mount and remain exactly where you need it on the drum.

The PR 28 can be purchased separately, or in the HDK drum kit series, (HDK-5, HDK-7 and HDK-8), and is available with a variety of microphone mounting options.

- HH-1 B Studio Microphone -
The Heil HH-1 drum mic mount is patent pending, in part, for its utility in mounting microphones to drums securely. The HH-1 offers several options to mount, including via the rim, or to the mounting hoops of the drums. The fully adjustable HH-1 was developed with input from jazz drummer and producer, Hunter Herman (hence the HH-1 designation). Like most drummers, Mr. Herman had (in the past), been forced to use methods of mounting drum mics that left him wanting better solutions. Like all producers, he demands mic placement that best captures drum sounds.

The HH-1 addresses the need to place drum mics in perfect proximity to the drum to get the desired sound, while ergonomically mounting, and remaining fully adjustable. Whether top mounting, or for when you need a little space between the drum & mic, and/or you're mounting from underneath, you can place your mic with confidence. Mic'ing drums can be challenging considering variables in drum design, number of drums & even the style of the drummer.

With the HH-1, you can get into the tightest of tight spots, and you can place microphones where they are going to operate at their optimum level of performance. In live situations, the HH-1 lets sound technicians do great work, without fear of mic stands moving around, or worrying about inferior mounts that tend to break. - PR 30 B Studio Microphone -
Everything you love about the HEIL PR 30 dynamic super-cardioid (end-fire) microphone is incorporated into the PR 30B. The only difference is the PR 30B mic comes in a beautiful matte black finish, with red mesh grills. The same magnet composition as the PR 30 (neodymium, boron, and iron), works with the large element to produce a smooth, flat, response throughout the entire wide frequency range. The PR 30B is perfect as a guitar, or bass amplifier cabinet microphone, as well as great for drums and cymbals. It is fantastic for vocals and professional broadcasting.

The HEIL PR 30B microphone (like the PR 30), has a humbucking coil, in addition to the large shock-mounted diaphragm. You can be confident electronic noises will not affect your mix when using the PR 30B near PC monitors in the studio, nor near neon lights, etc. Vibration is NOT an issue with the PR 30B. Additionally, the PR 30B can handle 146 dB of SPL.

The PR 30 B will handle multiple mic'ing tasks for live, as well as for recording jobs. The PR 30B has the same great sound and internal design as the PR 30, plus, it looks cool & offers a different color option for setting up in front of guitar & bass cabinets, drums, and for vocals and broadcasting. The PR 30B is available individually and is also included in the HDK-7 and HDK-8 Drum Mic Kits. Its finish matches the other mic's included in the HDK series.

The PR 30B comes with an adjustable mic holder in a foam-fitted protective box.

- PR 48 Kick Drum Microphone -
The Heil PR 48 kick drum microphone is the end-result of what happens when you start with the finest kick drum microphone components listen to what your customers want based on real-world drumming conditions, and put it all together. Heil incorporates suggestions from some of the best drummers and drum & sound technicians in the world into the PR 48. That and two years of "in the field" research refining these suggestions, yields the PR 48, ready to take on any kick drum.

The PR 48 contains a large vulcanized double shock-mounted diaphragm element, impervious to external vibration and noise. The PR 48 also has our best rear noise rejection, and excellent (148 db) SPL handling; all housed in a solid flat black emron steel body with red screens on an adjustable swivel-mount. Heil adds passive internal low pass filters to create rises in the frequencies where the kick drum's sound benefits most. The kick beater is also represented like never before in the mix through this filtering. This is a great rock kick drum mic, but also is at home serving country, jazz, funk, blues and metal drummers with a kick drum sound that has no equal.

While some kick drum microphones judge themselves by how well they can handle EQ; how about a kick drum mic that sounds fantastic with NO EQ! As a finishing touch, the PR 48 has a 45 degree angle XLR plug to allow for easier XLR connecting during setup.
