Controller App dropping connection to Adapt

I have my adapt connected to my home 2.4 wifi network. It works great for about 3 or 4 minutes, but then the app stops playing and a "No speaker found" message comes up. My phone is on the 2.4 wifi. Any suggestions?

Awesome!

This device is all I was looking for to be able to wirelessly connect my old Bose Home theater to my HK Omni 20s, my new projector the same Home theater by 3.5 mm audio jack and my iPhone using Bluetooth, all very easy, no hustle and very reliable. Just awesome! Fully recommend it to everyone.

Never Worked Out of The Box

Never could get the wifi function to work on two of these devices. The app is complete garbage. I tired with both android and apple and could never get the app to recognize either of the two Adapt's I have. Unfortunate for me I purchased these in July and didn't need them until recently. If you plan on purchasing ones of these for the wifi capability do yourself a favor and do a google search. You'll thank me later. Definitely will not be buying anymore Harman Kardon products. The new tread in audio gear is the manufacture using their customers as beta testers and in this case alpha testers.

Works well

I bought this blue tooth adapter to use with my old hk receiver. My initial plan had been to just buy a set of cables (3.5mm to rca) and plug my phone directly into receiver. When this unit went on sale I opted to try this out instead to have freedom of having my phone away from receiver. I'm glad I did. Because the adapt is powered , the signal is louder if I use blue tooth vs plugging the phone directly into the receiver. (Plus i have the added convenience of not having to leave phone near receiver)

Sounds Really Good: Be Cautious

Well I am STILL working with Support to get this connected to the HK Controller App (iOS). It is not straightforward and seems to make no sense why it will not connect. That being said, the Bluetooth is working and seems to work well. I bought them for playing around with and for the Garage. I am not an Audiophile so cannot really tell you if the quality is worth it. I thought is sounded good. If this was connecting and controllable via the App flawlessly I think it would be a 5 stars.

Does not work with WiFi

I have owned Harman Kardon equipment since 1979. Great sound engineering for so many years. But this device seems to have trouble with AirPlay. The device can be configured to connect to wifi, but when you try to play music through AirPlay, it disconnects after about 3 seconds of music. You then have to start over setting it up and making the connection again to WiFi. I did this numerous times, no luck making it work. However, the device DOES work with bluetooth and doesn't seem to have trouble staying connected via bluetooth, but the sound quality is not as good with bluetooth.

Would not connect to my home network.

I tried for over an hour to connect this to my home network. It was a waste of time. It would not connect. Called to return and was given the run-around. It is now sitting in a drawer.

So easy to use

HK ran a sale on the Adapt, I wish I bought more. So easy to set up and use. Turns your older stereo into a Bluetooth compatible stereo. Plugged it in, pushed the button, liked my phone and I was playing music.

Does not support Spotify of pandora

The HK controller app does not support any major streaming player. The only way to stream Spotify or pandora or amazon music is through Bluetooth.

Easy to setup, works well!

My old-school NAD and Jura setup is now belting out sounds streamed from my iPhone. Great sound, very pleased. I was nervous after some reviews of hard to setup, I simply installed the app, plugged it into the aux on the amp and power, hit the button, and it worked.

WiFi functionality is very limited

This product has two functions - Bluetooth streaming and WiFi streaming. WiFi streaming is useless for me. I cannot connect to the device with my favourite audio software.

Great sound, but to what use.

Bought an Omni 20 2 years ago, fell for the great sound and unfortunaly did not check the software first, been waiting for an improvement ever since but now its time to abendon the ship, still no dlna support, still no Spotify, messy app that destroys the whole experience.

Good sound quality, Bad system.

I bought two of OMNI 10 and two of OMNI 20 to use in my cafe. OMIN will give you a quality of sound for both 10 & 20. However, it's so annoying that all speakers always loss their signal and you will find difficulty to reconnect it again and It happened everyday !!!! 4-5 times a day, and this is in a cafe with customers. Sometimes 1 speaker disappear somethings 2 speakers disappear. OMG !!! I'm so sick of this. Application also not support Apple Music. If company still cannot fix the issue, don't buy it.

Limited solution to stream existing equipment

Adapt is an inexpensive solution to add your existing stereo to streaming. Fits the bill for me to stream radio to my Omni speakers. Need to turn volume up very high when streaming to your stereo through Adapt. Hope HK upgrades this component to compete with Sonos Connect.

Not perfect but not as bad as some say

My setup: Yamaha receiver, Omni 20 and Adapt. This is an early review having only received the Omni products today. I am giving it four stars because I could not do 3.5 and felt the other criticism a bit harsh and wanted to balance things a little. Also, the Omni20 does sound really good - way better than most other Bluetooth speakers by far. For me, a three star product needs to meet certain criteria: advertised functionality works, is reasonably intuitive to use and I can understand the philosophy behind the design approach. The Omni and Controller app meet all these criteria to various degrees and in addition has some other compelling good points. When I bought this setup, I was looking for three things: 1) Cheaper than Sonos 2) Be able to stream music from CD player out to all other Omni products 3) Be able to link one Omni product to iPad Bluetooth and then have it restreamed everywhere. I have successfully tested all three of these and given the complexity involved with doing this I am actually quite pleased. The Party Mode and Link is really cool. I love the volume controller that lets you tweak the volumes in various rooms on a single dashboard. Let me give the bad points now: -The controller app needs better instructions on usability. Any idea what the home icon does? I have no clue and can't find it documented anywhere. I am partially blind in one eye so maybe it's fine print? :) -Searching for music on your system. I have been struggling with this all night. Some songs play and others come up with a useless message saying they can not be played. -The app needs a simple mute button which can be found quickly. Some final thoughts I have are, I suggest having some patience with the app when it searches for products and is doing the background setup. HK appears to be on the right track here. Hopefully newer versions of the app will be easier to use. I am hoping to come back in a few weeks and give an even more favorable follow up review. I want this system to work. Sonos, while a good product, is ridiculously overpriced in my opinion.

adapt harman kardon. sorry but

I am not use to write reviews but you must think about this before buying an adapt. The bluetooth on a 8 mt. range directly no obstructuction, has a lot of disconnection. WIFI works fine but. There is not compatibility with my mac, Spotify, air drop or apple music. I am disappointed, not only for the deficient bluetooth. But the software compatibility. I hope harman (witch I own a beautiful AVR receiver) will consider a serious software actualization for wifi use. (add mac availability, not only tablet or phone) I would not recommend this product until software actualization . sorry.

It takes some fiddling

I have been using Airplay for some years now and I wanted to update the system to something that would allow me to stream to multiple speakers from my mobile. I bought 3 adapt and an Omni 20, it's been almost a month and I'm still trying to figure out the sytem, I set it up and worked fine , then it started to cut off (that has been the standard) I decided to reset the whole thing last weekend and it has been working fine since. It is a shame the app is not useful since it doesn't support Pandora , Spotify or even Itunes Match or Radio and the featured radio stations I find them substandard. Something you need to keep in mind, anytime you reset your router or the system, the volume of the adapt goes all the way up so you can burn the speakers connected to it, it does not happen with the Omni 20.

Obvious Design Oversights

This was a Christmas gift. I was initially confident that I could make this work, but some of its design oversights are so obvious that it is a burden to use. First obvious issue is that is the power cord is too short, three feet long. Next, although it is supposed to connect with a stereo, it only has 1/8" inputs rather than RCs. Third, despite the fact that this item was released in September, its app has practically no functionality at all. Doesn't allow you to select inputs from the app; app isn't compatible with Spotify, Google play, Pandora, DNLA, or other media servers; isn't powered and won't drive unpowered speakers-despite its vague claims; and doesn't have a DAC so any analog sources sound empty. I am planning on returning it.

Would not stay connected

I was really unhappy with the Adapt and returned it. The setup isn't complicated but every time it lost the network signal I had to set it up again. It lost the signal five times in one afternoon. Setting it up requires pressing reset on the Adapt and slogging through the HK app. Like a lot of other people I found the app to be pretty clunky and limited. Not what you'd expect from Harman Kardon. I set the Adapt up about 12 feet from my wireless router with no walls in between, it should not be loosing the signal when my Apple TV box is twice as far and it works great.

Good individual components, poor system

I bought an Adapt, an Omni 10 and 20 to try the system out. The conclusion so far is that the sound quality from the 10 is great, 20 slightly little less so, and that the Adapt doesn't integrate well in the setup. The Omni 20 plays a bit more undetailed and my feeling is that the 10 actually plays the lower frequency better. Both play however well and the design of especially the 10 is great. The HK Controller app is a poor experience, limited support for music services - Deezer is the only one currently - and linking the units together doesn't work if you stream the music from a phone to one of the units using Bluetooth. Here there must be improvements made; added music services (Spotify, Groovshark, Google Play Music,..., added functionality (possibility to play music stored on a NAS for example) and improved stability. I have used the HK controller on an Android device (Sony Xperia Z3).

Drops connection, limited connectivity to reciever

I have been using the Adapt and an Omni 10 pair for about a week now. The setup was fairly easy but took a couple of tries to take. I can get the bluetooth function to work with the Omni 10s, sometimes, and stream music very slowly, but the adapt (wired to an input jack on a receiver) does not seem to work under bluetooth. When streaming through the Adapt, it requires excessive volume control on the receiver to get a tolerable volume output. For the money, and HK reputation, there should be a higher fidelity option to connect the Adapt to a receiver (HDMI, optical). I can get them all working together with the app but it is very limited in function and drops connection with frustrating regularity. This droppage is in the same area I have been using both wifi and bluetooth with uninterrupted reliability on other devices and apps. Reading the product promo info, one might think that you can stream anything to this system. So far, not so much. With the app, streaming selection is slim and as far as I have been able to determine, 3rd party apps are only streamable through the poor bluetooth performance. The Omni 10 sound is good but my frustration with this inflexible system spoils my experience.
